PREVIOUSLY ON SURVIVOR: At Samatau's camp, people began to scramble when they got back to camp instead of work on the shelter. This annoyed Rick, and instead of going around and strategizing he insisted on working on the shelter and worry about the strategies later. The only other to help Rick was Sunday, while the other 8 decided to target Rick. Sunday decided to cast her vote for Sierra, who already played twice before, and Rick decided to cast his vote for Chelsea who spearheaded all the strategy talk. Sierra threw a vote Sunday's way in case Rick somehow got his hands on a hidden idol. At tribal council, Rick didn't have an idol and he was voted out of Samatau by a vote of 7-1-1-1. However, Jeff told him just to wait one second, and to sit where the jury is suppposed to.
Over at Asaga's beach, they worked hard on the shelter so the strategy talk wasn't quite there. However, Kelly S., Hope, Jeremiah, and Krista formed a tight foursome right off the bat. Hope wasn't really pulling her weight around camp however, raising the eyebrows of some of the other members, namely Troyzan. Troyzan talked to some people about voting Hope out first, but most people decided to vote their conscience instead of worrying about strategy. Wiglesworth ended up voting with him, but no one else did. Brad, Mary, and Krista all got votes just for not talking to people as much, but in the end the foursome controlled the vote and sent Troyzan out of the tribe, 4-2-1-1-1-1.
Jeff then told both Troyzan and Rick to come forward after sending Asaga away. He told them that they'd be going to "Purple Island," and that they weren't out of the game. The way Purple Island works is that there will be 3 people on it at a time, and they'll go into a challenge. Whoever wins the challenge decides who stays with them on Purple Island, and who will leave the game for good. Once the merge comes, the players still not voted out will vote on which of the two people on Purple Island they want in the game with them.
