This is my favorite Demi Lovato song because it's one of her best vocal showcases. Along with the lyrics being soooo badass and putting the man in his place. CAUSE MICHAEL, YOU DON'T DO IT FOR ME ANYMORE.
Usually we see Katy post these massive pop songs however this is different and her voice is so beautiful in this song. I absolutely love it and I'm always in love with it
Dear John. Taylor was known for her breakup songs, and this one about her weird relationship with a MUCH older and manipulative John Mayer hits hard to me! Her honesty about everything wrong in the relationship, where her others have been way more vague always drew me here. I’m a sucker for a good emotional song, and this still gets me crying with every listen!
Jessie J wrote Big White Room when she was 17 and it is about an experience from when she was 10 and in hospital. She has an irregular heartbeat and got admitted into hospital because of it. She woke up in the night and saw the boy opposite her praying not to die and the next morning unfortunatly he had, she asked her mum why he died as he asked to be saved. She wanted to write asong about the experience but didnt want it to be tacky so she waited until she was 17. It is the first song she ever wrote. I feel this song shows how you are able to move on from trauma and make it into something beautiful. Also it shows her talent as a writer and a vocal slaying queen.
This song is my favourite because it is a strong emotive song that delivers the message to be who you are despite what the world might want you to be. I teach my daughters this daily. I love the acceptance that is in this song, that you don’t need to be who others want you to be, because you are nothing less than perfect the way you are.
So one of the reason I chose Tori Kelly was this song. I’m a huge Lecrae fan, and this is a favorite of both for me. Fun fact, when I was 15, I was diagnosed with a tumor on my brain and was treated at this very hospital that the video was shot in 2002 (St Jude’s in Memphis, TN). So this is a song of hope in the here and now but also brings me back to my teenage yours..
My most played Kelly Clarkson song, it has a strong message and I'm pretty sure it has helped a lot of people over the years who has experienced similar situations to Kelly. I chose the idol version over the original version because I feel the lyrics of the song work better with the stripped down productions. The song is an emotional powerhouse and I believe it is one of her best.
