Summer TV Rankings:

Aug 31, 2017 by splozojames50
~Excellent~
-Amazing Race Canada 5: Started off slow with no *stars* among the cast but slowly each team brings something to the table (besides one obvious anomaly) and the legs/tasks this season have been crazy hard. A beyond solid showing.

~Good~
-Australian Survivor 4: The season is pretty decent with a strong cast but the editing leaves a lot to be desired. Seems to have strayed from what made last season magic in favor of a more survivor-us "big moves" type of approach in both the editing and twists. Still a solid season but pales in comparison to last year.

-Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making The Team 12: After watching season 11 this show has a cool vibe where you know the veterans and they make appearances here and there while you get to know the newbies. I can definitely see why this show has been running for so long because its short, sweet, and to the point while you also know a little bit about every single girl.

~Average
-Project Runway 17: Based on the first two episodes the season has a lot of potential. The cast is pretty strong and based on the cheating scandal from the season preview there could be some nice drama mixed in.

-The Challenge: This could EASILY be pushed up into "good" if it wasn't for the pacing. There's lots of fresh new faces and some iconic old ones (queen Veronica) along with a fun format. However none of this really matters when its dragged down when every 1.5/2 episodes has the same number of events that would traditionally be in 1 episode. It makes the show more of a chore to watch than enjoyable and i am now 2 episodes behind because of that.

-The Fosters: The show remains kinda messy and being pulled in many different directions. Marianna's story lines remain the best by far while the rest range from interesting (the lesbian neighbor backstory) to cringy messes (the pc culture on callie's art school, jude's gayming storyline)

~Bad~
-American Grit: The "find your grit" theme was really cheesy and all the scripted John Cena moments don't do it for me. Pretty transparently encapsulates a lot of tropes that the average person would think of when they think of "fake reality tv". Some of the challenges were cool and original (the gear endurance challenge) and some of the cast members were fun (even though some come across as production plants) so there is SOME potential left in this.

~Horrible~
-Big Brother 19: What would another summer of television ranking be without big brother having zero competition for last? Horrible cast, horrible boot order, horrible twists that transparently are only put in place so that sunday shows can have an extra competition when they want to start doing live hoh's again, vet mixed with newbies, horrific episodes, horrible feeds etc etc. Pretty much any and all aspects that i love about reality tv are done horrifically awful in every way.
