Night 1 Knockouts Notes:

1. Honestly this knockout night wasn't bad, but I feel some of the performances were mediocre
2. Standout of the night is dark horse Max Boyle, like while he was singing that song I just got goosebumps all over my arms and he sent chills down my spine. I could tell this song means a lot to him and he really brought it against Katie which is an extremely difficult thing to do. I'm so glad Kelly stole him because I would love to see him in the live shows.
3. Again with Kelly making good decisions this episode, Jake's performance was just incredible and like he makes me want to listen to country which is a great feat to have when performing a genre that I'm not the biggest fan of. His voice is magical and I want him to do well.
4. Honestly out of all the eliminated contestants, I really enjoyed Marina's performance. I get why she lost over Cali because I can see the judges comments however she really rocked that song and finally had a nice performance that I would want to listen to again, but I think it's just little too late for her to really want me to see more of her.
5. I honestly think Katie's audition has been her best performance so far because I just want feeling anything while listening to this performance emotionally. Like don't get me wrong I loved her energy and I was swaying along just bopping my head and having a good time I just wish she focused on less entertainment and really feeling a song that she can connect with like having her do a power ballad would be amazing.
6. I honestly just wasn't impressed by Cali's performance, like it sounded really good and it was haunting however I just didn't feel anything from her voice and it didn't feel like she was telling the story. I really love Cali and she has an amazing voice but I just didn't think she connected to this song as I wanted her to.
7. I couldn't finish Melinda's song, I'm sorry like it was sweet that her brother is recovering smoothly and that she got to meet Taylor but I honestly just didn't enjoy her performance and I don't think this was the right song to perform for her voice. She has a nice jazz to it and she isn't Mariah Carey so I'm glad Kelly eliminated her since I didn't feel any strong potential from her.
