LOVE:
1. Israel: Netta Barzilai - Toy (what an iconic trainwreck of a song that is actually really enjoyable)
2. Cyprus: Eleni Foureira - Fuego (iconic gay pop tune)
3. Czech Republic: Mikolas Josef - Lie to Me (he's hot and has a good song what's there not to like)
4. Denmark: Rasmussen - Higher Ground (love the viking feel to it)
5. Greece: Yianna Terzi - Oneiro Mou (creates some sort of a magical feel that makes this really captivating)
6. Slovenia: Lea Sirk - Hvala, ne! (jury is gonna absolutely bury this but it's such a great low-budget entry)
7. Portugal: Cláudia Pascoal - O jardim (first time in awhile the host country did a good job)
8. Ukraine: MÉLOVIN - Under the Ladder (the cheesy repetitive ooh-ooh's prevent this song from being higher)
9. Finland: Saara Aalto - Monsters (suffers from the fact that Netta is going after the same fanbase and is doing a better job at it)
LIKE:
10. Malta: Christabelle - Taboo (extremely cheesy lyrics stop it from going above this section)
11. Sweden: Benjamin Ingrosso - Dance You Off (a very competent synth pop entry with great 80s alike production)
12. France: Madame Monsieur - Mercy (lacks the final punch but still very good)
OK, WILL PROBABLY GROW ON ME
13. Estonia: Elina Nechayeva - La Forza (it's been awhile since pop and opera work well together)
14. Italy: Ermal Meta & Fabrizio Moro - Non mi avete fatto niente (Italy have another decent entry that I probably won't download)
15. Serbia: Sanja Ilić & Balkanika - Nova deca (I feel like they are trying to have this similar magical feel like Greece, they slightly fall short)
16. Belgium: Sennek - A Matter of Time (nice Bondesque tune, but nowhere near as good as Blanche last year)
17. FYR Macedonia: Eye Cue - Lost and Found (kind of a pity it's in SF1 because it's quite good)
18. Poland: Gromee ft. Lukas Meijer - Light Me Up (catchy but extremely generic)
19. Spain: Alfred & Amaia - Tu canción (initially hated this, has been growing on me recently, still too cheesy to get over the line though)
20. United Kingdom: SuRie - Storm (a pretty pedestrian catchy song)
21. Latvia: Laura Rizzotto - Funny Girl (not bad at all, but it has a borderline qualifier aura all over)
22. Austria: Cesár Sampson - Nobody but You (I felt like I liked it more when I first heard it than now)
23. Netherlands: Waylon - Outlaw in 'Em (pretty simple for its genre but still quite effective)
24. Switzerland: Zibbz - Stones (lacks the edge, but nonetheless nice)
25. Armenia: Sevak Khanagyan - Qami (takes quite a bit to pick up)
26. Hungary: AWS - Viszlát nyár (vocals are a turn-off, but the production for this is quite good)
MEH
27. Belarus: Alekseev - Forever (this is just a very average song)
28. Azerbaijan: AISEL - X My Heart (the same person produced Demy's generic trash last year and you can easily hear that)
29. Albania: Eugent Bushpepa - Mall (honestly waiting for a revamp because the length of the song makes it drag on too much)
30. Romania: The Humans - Goodbye (competenet, but completely forgettable)
31. Bulgaria: EQUINOX - Bones (after all the hype, you give us...this?)
32. Croatia: Franka - Crazy (falls flat in comparison to other entries)
33. Australia: Jessica Mauboy - We Got Love (suffers from being overpolished to death)
34. Moldova: DoReDos - My Lucky Day (the song is a horrible trainwreck, but at least it's funny)
BAD
35. Russia: Yulia Samoylova - I Won't Break (the songwriters have improved, she has not)
36. San Marino: Jessika ft. Jenifer Brening - Who We Are (generic garbage)
37. Germany: Michael Schulte - You Let Me Walk Alone (rejected Ed Sheeran album filler)
38. Ireland: Ryan O'Shaughnessy - Together (if this is supposed to get the lgbt vote then try again)
39. Lithuania: Ieva Zasimauskaitė - When We're Old (at least Fusedmarc was a trainwreck, this is just a bore)
40. Iceland: Ari Ólafsson - Our Choice (definitely not our choice)
41. Georgia: Iriao - For You (horrid attempt at representing Georgian sound)
42. Montenegro: Vanja Radovanović - Inje (he looks as bored in his live performances as I am)
DEATH
43. Norway: Alexander Rybak -That's How You Write A Song (this is legit gonna qualify because it's r*bak, the song is absolutely atrocious to the point it makes me physically unwell)
I think Jessica Maunoy's song is a grower. It's a shame they produced the song so much because she is such a strong vocal talent and has released some amazing songs.
I know what you mean, it feels like a really engineered song ricktworick1, like it was designed just to win. The huge surprise success songs are always the really kooky ones that producers didn't put much time into. But I can criticise too much because my country (the U.K) can never scrape together a decent entry.
I'm so proud of my country, Portugal, we're sending such a good host entry.
I hope we can keep sending good songs in the next few years and not go back to a series of NQs lol
