Rick's Top 40 Favourite TSC Songs of 2016 (32-29)

Jan 12, 2017 by ricktworick1
TSC group link: http://www.tengaged.com/group/3616

Notes:
- All songs sent in between TSC 226 to 264 are eligible
- This is based on my personal opinion - I mean there's a reason it's MY LIST. Please do not take any offense from what I think of. Strictly my own thoughts
- Contrary to some weird belief, I don't believe that my music taste is better than anyone else's, although I have no idea if it's useful to post that because every year there are some idiots crying about their songs not being appreciated enough. This list is for you all to have some fun and laugh at possible comments I make.
- I also include some of my own entries, but don't worry, I'm not that arrogant to have more than 10 entries about myself

32. Anne-Marie - Alarm - AlanDuncan, TSC240, 7th, 85 pts

There goes the "Alarm." The verses are a bit of a bore, they are not bad but the buildup in the pre-chorus and the chorus is amazing. It's just a pity that everything else in this is just a bit too subpar to keep the quality super high, but even with that it's still very good. Rockabye's better, though.

31. Ina Wroldsen & Broiler - Lay It On Me - #catch_a_falling_star, TSC232, 2nd, 109 pts

Another ballad made it into my top 40. How did that happen? Maybe because Broiler had a clear idea that typical slow tempo lounge music suck ass, so in order to prevent Ina from entering the area of horrible warblefest, he decided to provide her with a great beat that is rarely heard in ballads in general. For example, if Ariana Grande ever does music like this, it would be basically be listening to 4 minutes of her vocal masturbation showing off how good of a singer she is.

30. Troye Sivan - Youth - #krrais, TSC227, 10th, 73 pts

His music, just like Tori Kelly's, has been dominated with downs rather than ups - he is probably pretty boring in bed, too - I mean, just look at him. Fortunately, every shitty pop artist has at least one song that somehow breaks the tradition of being terrible, and "Youth" is definitely Troye's biggest gem. The way he executed the dreamy synth sound in this single actually goes well - it sounds smooth for once. Adding to that, Troye isn't a kind of a singer that would do power ballads, so his vocal never drown out the great production aspect which is EXTREMELY important for pop music to be at least decent. As I mentioned, it's just a pity that his other stuff are just crap.

29. Selah Sue - Fear Nothing - #Alexito, TSC229, 9th, 67 pts

On the other hand, Selah Sue is an artist that has consistently delivered in terms of musical quality, and "Fear Nothing" is probably her best release to date. The slowish verses are just to fool you that this song may be boring - the chorus explodes right into your fucking face and I love that. Also aided by the fact that her tone is pretty unique for the current singers - she sounds like a less polished Amy Winehouse and she even strains the notes in a similar manner - another reason to like her stuff.

Seriously why did Youth flop on TSC?
Sent by Arris,Jan 12, 2017
Selah Sue provided the best chorus of this year...bar none...
the verses are a little bland in comparison.

I forgot what a tune Ina and Broiler produced. I was surprised it got second. :O  :D
