Snails - Last Christmas by Kelly Clarkson - Oh she was giving like 20s jazz club vibes with this one. Kelly is so multifaceted and such a strong performer. I feel like some other singers tried to influence jazz elements into their versions of this song but this one was the only one that fully committed and it makes it so much better for that.
Turkeylover - Last Christmas by Carly Rae Jepsen - I feel like I revisit this version every year hoping to like it more than I do. She tries to go with this kind of jazz sound with the saxophone throughout but I don't fully love it. Like it's not bad by any means, just not anything too spectacular that makes it stand out from the crowd fully.
Jaxon - Last Christmas by Ashley Tisdale - The way the music kind of slowly rises and then when the beat goes hard after the intro makes this version feel so uplifting and powering. She isn't feeling that sad. She has so much angst and is yelling at this main. You'll never fool her again.
Tyleror - Last Christmas by Glee Cast - God watching this reminded me how infuriating Rachel was all the time. The vocals were good and it was nice to see the two different perspectives mashing into one making it uniquely a duet. Besides the duet this one didn't take huge creative liberty to change it up. Was a very mild choice to say.
Voila - Last Christmas by Cascada - SCREAMS. I adore everything about this version. It just has that classic cascada feeling while having a hint of jingling bells keeping it festive. When talking to some people someone brought up this version and decided to go with something else and I was bummed it wouldn't appear until you picked it!
Symmetry888 - Last Christmas by Miley Cyrus (live) - Okay like.. wheres the album Miley? Where's the offical release? I need her to do a Christmas rock album in the tone of plastic Hearts so bad. Plastic Christmas? I really loved her take here with making it her own but keeping the holiday spirit felt throughout it.
Tbrown_47 - Last Christmas by Tinashe - Oh this one was so good. It was a bit sexier and sultry sounding. It's like she is trying to seduce the main who gave her heart away only to show him what he is missing. There is just a smooth feeling and charm she has that makes me really like this.
SirNiceGuy - Last Christmas by Allie X - Yeah no this one wasn't it for me. It just doesn't really work for me at all. I feel like the beat is better than the vocal. She feels too subdued and gets drowned out by the actual music. I respect that it's kind of a different take and isn't just a christmasy jingle but I wouldn't go searching out this one again
Useamint - Last Christmas by Jimmy Eat World - I guess it was alright. I feel like the pacing felt a bit odd to me? The rushed part ups in the chorus and it's kind of jarring to listen to. Like there is taking it and making it into your own sound and then there is just changing up tempo and sound which kind of ruins the original integrity of the song. Also like why is it so much longer than every other version? That extra minute and for what?
