Its Night 2 here in Josh's Ultimate Christmas Competition Spectacular winter wonderland!
Normally I plan to randomize the results for suspense purpose but at this point with Times_Places and Mackey quitting/not posting they will both be eliminated from the competition and we'll be moving on as planned.
You might be asking - If tyleror used the gift of giving to give useamint safety this round.. what happens to that?
Because Christmas is the time to be caring and giving --- I am extending Useamints safety into the next round as well because it is unfair that his safety was for naught this round.
Here are the rankings of this round though
1. Useamint – My Christmas List by Simple Plan – So honestly I don’t immediately think of Simple Plan when I’m going to listen to Christmas music but this kind of was such a smash? Like I’ve said it multiple times on JUSCC that I really enjoy 2000s pop punk and I’m no stranger to Simple Plan. That being said this was the first time I’ve ever listened to this song and like omg its going to become an annual song added to my playlist. This is 2/2 great songs so far. Watch out for the mint everyone.
2. Turkeylover – 8 Days of Christmas by Destinys Child – “Christmas was made for the children. Destinys children” omg lol this song was so funny. This may be one of the more balanced Destinys Childs song I’ve ever seen even if it still is Beyonce heavy. Them taking all the toys in the store before the children have a chance to do any shopping at all was funny to me but then they let them in and I was disappointed. I thought they were saying fuck them kids and gonna take everything and run.
3. Jaxon – Santa Baby by Naya Rivera – So I kind of rolled my eyes when I saw you copied someone elses song…. AGAIN. I can’t lie though… this was such a slay for me. Santana/Naya running around a jewelry store making men give her everything was great to see and I think the faster tempo of this really made this version shine more than the other ones. I don’t foresee you going home YET even though you hate Christmas. Maybe we will make your heart grow three sizes by the end of this?
4. SirNiceGuy – sympathy 4 the grinch by 100 gecs – A hyperpop Christmas song? I totally wasn’t expecting that at all. I wasn’t expecting to like this as much as I did before I start that. I do agree it’s a bit silly and over the top but I mean… Christmas is a day about a big man with flying reindeer leaving free things in peoples house so like the holiday season itself is kind of silly.
5. Tbrown_47 – Man with the Bag by Jessie J – She was cute, I think it was perfectly fine. I don’t think its going to put you in danger this week at all but it feels like its gonna kind of be the middle of the road point. Hope to see you shine moving forward though!
6. Viola – Santa Baby by Kellie Pickler – I was really worried that this was going to be a god awful cover of Santa Baby with extra country twang and banjos and fiddles. It wasn’t THAT bad. Not nearly as bad as I was expecting going into this song. I mean.. its Santa Baby. It fits the theme and this round is basically battle of the Santa Babys (if any of them do good at all). This was the first one posted of the bunch so this is my first impression so will the other ones outshine it or will it rule the best of the babies?
7. Symmetry888 – Audreys Christmas Rewind by Sarah Jeffery – This is such a funny choice but like Andrew’s choice last round this song is very specific and half the time she is talking about things she did in the movies and im like… did I repress the memory of these movies because I had no idea what she is talking about. When did she steal maleficent scepter? When did she lock someone in a closet? The beat was kind of banging tho I cant lie. I was very conflicted where to put this tbh.
8. CoolKat – Santa Baby by Eartha Kitt – So like.. I know this is the original version but where I think that makes it lack is that other people were able to freshen it up and do more interesting things with it. This one just drags especially being the last one of the three posted this round. I got halfway through and was like… should I change it to 1.5x speed so I can get to the end faster? I just wish it was a different song choice, especially when you saw two other versions posted.
9. Tyleror – Father Christmas by The Kinks – I mean, my dad would probably love this so much. I didn’t really love this song and like.. yeah it fits the theme but it just isn’t something for me persay. I’m not sure I have much other input on this specific song. Like I appreciate that you didn’t go for any of the obvious pick.
Tyleror really had a fall from grace going from first to last - showing that sometimes the star at the top of the Christmas tree is a falling star!
Useamint had safety but he didnt need it at all! He in fact had my favorite song this round and gets to choose a gift from underneath the tree. Because he is automatically safe next round - basically acting like what the gift of safety was planning to be, more or less an immunity, I will be replacing that gift out with another one.
