LKB Charity Spotlight: A-T Children's Project

12thAug 8, 2020 by noobsmoke13
For our final season, LKB: All-Stars, each player had to choose to represent a charity. 23 different charities were represented for a variety of causes. The charity of the winner received $80 and the runnerup's charity received $40. I will now be posting blogs highlighting each of the All-Stars charities, a long with a link for you to donate to them if you are able :)

First up is the A-T Children's Project, an organization helping to find a cure to a rare genetic illness. TJ goes more in depth below.

Below is a message from TJ2807, who chose to represent this charity!

"Hi Tengaged!

When LKB released that they would be doing a cash prize for their all stars season, I messaged Billy and told him that I would like to donate my winnings (if I were to win) to a charity. Billy liked the idea so much that he decided to make every person represent a charity of their choice, so today I’ll tell you about my charity: the Ataxia Telangiectasia Children’s Project, or ATCP for short.

This charity’s goal is to find a cure to an exceptionally rare neurological illness called Ataxia Telangiectasia. It is a genetic disease which causes numerous difficulties including a complete lack of a proper immune system, prevents repair of broken DNA creating an extremely high cancer rate, as well as many issues with movement and coordination leading to being wheelchair bound.

Why is this charity so close to me? My brother, Antonio, the T and 28 of my account, was born with this disease and suffered through its consequences for his 18 years of life, until his second fight with cancer... and wound still very fresh 3 years later.

My brother was my best friend, and seeing him suffer throughout his whole life was.... unbearable. And I do not wish that on anyone. Which is why finding a cure for this disease is so important for me, I wouldn’t be able to handle seeing all poor kids suffer. As bittersweet as it would be to see a cure found too late for my brother, none of these kids deserve the pain caused from this. If you would want to donate or spread the word of this cause, I would be eternally grateful, and I’m sure my brother would be too.

I’d write more for this, because God knows that I could go on writing about this forever, but I’ll keep it shorter for this and if you truly do want to learn more, message me! I love talking about my brother more than anything else in the world."

I would usually contribute more myself but TJ provided a lot of great information :) below is a link to where you can donate!
