Mental Health Awareness Month

May 13, 2020 by noobsmoke13
ok so a serious blog from me is odd and this is a weird place to put this but HERE GOES!

May, as I'm sure many of y'all know, is Mental Health Awareness Month. I believe it is more important than ever to #breakthestigma and show others that is is okay to be open about any mental health issues you may deal with. Amidst this global pandemic, mental health is even moreso a serious issue. It is mentally taxing to be cooped up inside. Depending on your homelife, this can be even worse on you mentally. I am literally writing this at 4:50 AM EST because my sleep has been very erratic for most of this quarantine. Some tips for really anyone who is dealing with a lot of stress and anxiety during this include:

1. READ - I know not everyone finds this super appealing but it helps me a lot. I have found it hard to focus on the novels I would typically read so I am currently rereading the Walking Dead comics series. Graphic Novels/Comics are a good alternative if a longform book frightens you.

2. WRITE - Writing is something I do and it helps me a lot both in and outside of this pandemic. I write poetry but just jotting down your feelings can help.

3. DON'T FEEL AS IF YOU ALWAYS NEED TO SEE THE NEWS - Reading the latest news headlines, especially those related to COVID-19, can further stress you out. Keeping up with the news is break but if you need a detox from the negativity, do not feel guilty about it. This is something I have been trying to ingrain into myself for the last couple of weeks.

It is also extremely good to have someone to confide in. Sometimes just spilling out what's weighing you down can be beneficial. If you ever need to talk, just shoot me a TG pm or message me via Skype if you have it.

I know Tengaged can be a super toxic site. We sometimes forget that we are still dealing with people with feelings and this is a stressful time for a lot of people.

I have been dealing with insomnia for the past few months and then I have been dealing with TTM + anxiety for a few years now.

I am sure there was a lot more that I could say but I will just keep this short and provide a link
