the tea is

a lot of TGers are awful at thoughtful, productive dialogue so they prefer to oversimplify complex issues in an attempt to get plusses on their blogs, demonize people, and overall make their lives as much a reality show as they can.

This close-mindedness and need to tear each other apart for the smallest infractions is one of many reasons TG is dying. New users don't want to stay here when you can't even attempt to be a unique person without being pulled into meaningless blog drama. The smallest disagreement is blown out of proportion and every user has to make a blog and choose sides.

EDIT: There are also people who I have disagreements about on here who are AMAZINGLY RESPECTFUL and I return the favor to them because I like to at least attempt to be a decent person.

I don’t get why people shouldn’t be close minded. I’m not gonna change my morals just because someone believes in different ones.

For real - I used to blog way more thoughtful blogs 90% of the time but no one cared until I blogged dumb things.
I find blogging dumb things enjoyable and lighthearted but do also seriously blog my thoughts (sometimes in a jokey manner to make things not toooo serious) but as you said the vast majority of people either want a full out fight between people or they want dumb stuff.

ghrocky100 There is a difference between being moral-driven and close-mindedness. You can have morals while also not shaming someone for something that isn't that awful. I am defending the slurs or anything like that on here. Please don't think that. I know people who believe differently than me and they are good friends of mine.

I think for the most part, I'm open-minded, but when it comes to positivity about Trump, that crosses a boundary because of how despicable he's been and how many people he's hurt.

Teddybear every person has good and bad and every person with power, like a president, affects people negatively and positively. There were children torn apart by drones during the Obama administration. That doesn't make Obama a bad person by any means. Trump has awful rhetoric, and has no idea how to conduct himself. He, like many people in his privileged upbringing, has awful biases but it would be irresponsible to act as if nothing he has passed has been good. Just yesterday I believe he passed a funding bill to help autistic children. I like that. He isn't addressing the border situation very well and his comment on video games are bad and untrue. I don't like those things.

Issues are just black and white.

Scononduders but not everyone is that way. Drama doesn't have to leave games.

I'm not sure why every time something is mentioned about Trump, Obama gets brought up. Obama is not in office. Obama has not been in office for awhile. This isn't about Obama.

Trump's problem isn't just his rhetoric, it's in his behavior - behavior that has given an outlet for white supremacists and caused murder. Behavior that has ruined people's lives - he is racist, sexist, homophobic, among many other things, and of course he's under judgment because he's in the most powerful position in the world. He has literally suggested shooting migrants in the legs to slow them down at the border, called laziness a 'trait in blacks', (https://www.vox.com/2016/7/25/12270880/donald-trump-racist-racism-history - long history in racism). I fail to see how he has good.

It's great that he signed Autism CARES. He also cut funding to Medicaid and proposed cutting autism funding for research at the NIH, along with mocking people who have disabilities

teddybear the same reason people compared Obama to Bush. It is very easy to compare and contrast  the current president and the preceding one.

noobsmoke13 I mean I don't see how that should have any effect on my view of Trump. Obama was also in no way perfect, but that has nothing to do with how I feel about Trump, and he isn't relevant now as hes been out of office for years
