calling someone an "it" isn't offensive?

Dec 16, 2018 by nijoco
I'm not talking in general like like "it said" but In relation to someone's gender to say someone isn't a man or a woman, it's an "it"- that's no offensive?
FYI I was called this- I never said it, hence the question mark in the title.
ok, admin, ok.

well, if you don't know someone's gender, isn't it more appropriate to say "they said"? idk

If it is offensive, then that is up to you, but it isn't ban worthy.

I didn't ask you to ban them tbf, I asked if it counted as gender phobia which is does.

yeah I think you're just being ignorant because trans people(I assume who were offended by this) actually know that being called "it" doesn't feel good at all. Have some respect and put yourself in other people's shoes.

nijoco When you usually report something, it is because you want to inform us about particular things, in this case, it was transphobia. That is typically a ban worthy subject, and if you read the rules listed about transphobia, it will give you a general list of discriminatory words which are NOT accepted. However, we and many others wouldn't know users gender, as it isn't public information, so it isn't unusual to mistake a gender or use different pronouns as a form of communication. If you believe "it" to be offensive, then speak to the user.

whatever. it's definitely a deliberate use of discrimination.
when it's listed as man/woman/it it's definitely purposeful. They is a perfectly acceptable alternative.
