conservatives are so far removed from modern culture that they believe drag is a fringe activity. there are 10 billion drag shows happening every night but since the average fox news viewer has never heard of drag race nevertheless local drag that's why their views are so warped - the only drag queens they know are the ones that they've seen clips of in a terrible light (sometimes deserved but not at all representative)

The GOP has absolutely nothing to run on other than culture wars. They do not want anyone that isn't a cis, white, conservative Christian to have rights. So they are starting with the biggest minority in the LGBT+ community by targeting trans individuals, but because they know nothing outside their bubble they think that "drag"=trans which obviously it doesn't.
Christian extremism is ruining the country and between this and their war on women, they are losing all power, hence why certain states are trying to impose certain laws that restrict the rights of voters or Democratic law makers to keep their chokehold on the country.
All the drag outrage to "protect the children", while there are, on average, more than 1 mass shooting a DAY in the United States and gun violence is literally the #1 reason behind child deaths currently. They don't care about anything but themselves, taking bribe money, and "owning" the left.
Its sad because there is so much lack of education around politics that the vast majority of conservatives just see news snippets and will still vote red, regardless of the fact that the GOP doesn't care about anyone.
