The Suicide hotline is a joke

Nov 9, 2019 by jakehou97
My roommate is talking about killing Himself and sounds very serious. We didn’t want to take any chances so we called the Suicide hotline number. We’ve been on hold for 15 minutes now. Like i know it’s like 6am (central) on a Saturday morning but this is ridiculous. I don’t want to even think about how many people may have actually gone through with it waiting on hold.

I’ve trained to be a hotline operator, these people often work for free, unpaid and understaffed. It’s a lot of work also to be listening to all these people and it can take a mental toll on you.  I hope someone picks up for your friend but you have to think of both sides.

They need better alternatives
