Dont Donate to Als Association

Aug 20, 2014 by iamtrey
So just felt like blogging this because, the whole ice challenge which i think is really cool idea for spreading awareness however i do not support donating part. Firstly the als association is a non for profit corporation. In ,7 percent of the money raised went to research, and 10 percent went to general salaries, a whooping 18 percent went to fundraising......more money was spent on fundraising and than actual research....no some have denied to accept this as the truth such as negasub but, as you can find on alsa own website http://www.alsa.org/assets/pdfs/2012-annual-report_als-association.pdf the actual financial report where they have it written out in plain context. Its good to donate but, its better to donate to charities that are actually helping instead of using a non for profit excuse to evade taxes, fun fact ikea is non profit as well! Yay go corporate greed woo!

27% when on research,

7% on administration,

19% on patient and community services

and 32% on public and professional education.

"non for profit" means that there's no profit made from donations

"profit" means they make money

survivor233 see that is what confused me at first too but however if you go further down the page you see the actual reports that is their like projected expenses thats their budget, however its not their annual report cause the year of 2014 is not over so that number can change drastically.......... ck11 non profits dont make "profits" they are still allowed slarey exchanges for their work where they can reward themselves millions as a salary for their "charitable work" those workers dont do it for free.

Yeah not all 100% will go to research, but you are saying that the foundation keeps all the rest of its money and doesnt use it for anything with ALS.

negasub what im saying is that if i donate my money i want a cure to the problem that i am helping, if i donate to cancer i want them to research a cure if i donate to animal rescue i want them to rescue animals simple as that
