Alright, some interesting sends to say the least this theme. Let's get started! I have randomized the order in which you will receive critiques!
nateclove: So your first entry: you went for Wicca, which I think is awesome! Witches are badass and I love that you chose it so much. I liked this very much, a very cool vibe and despite the fact the production of the music did annoy me, I personally thought it could've been mixed better - this was still very strong. When it comes to what I would've sent, you had quite a few options: Alina Pash, Emmy, Dakh Daughters, they would've all elevated what you were trying to go for even more. Overall your first send is great. Now your second song, you can't go wrong with Lady Gaga that's for sure. This was perfect nate, an amazing send for sure, the video screams art and the song is good - which is a given when it's Lady Gaga but still. A great 2 entries nate :).
LaCroix - Okay I understand where your coming from with your interest - it's very much like me and zombies. I'm very mixed on the song - it's very different to what you usually send but I didn't really feel much when listening to it. I think I would've liked it if at points the main singer just pushed it a bit more to give us a complete package, but I didn't have many problems with the song. Your inspiration message was very heartfelt - and I'm very glad that you have someone like your aunt in your life. This was a great song - you can't go wrong with the backstreet boys. I was just enjoying this to be honest - this is much better than your first send :))!
MrRobzilla - Soooo Weed. I must say personally I am against the use of weed - but that's more a personal choice since my mother died from smoking, so personally I'm not for that sort of use. However, this song is such a fucking bop. Snoop dogg is such a legend and Wiz Khalifa is so good here! I'm so sorry to hear about your teacher - they can be the most influential people in our lives and I'm so happy you had such a great relationship with her. This wasn't as good as your first song in my opinion. Mariah Carey was the star in this song - I wasn't such a fan of Boyz II Men in this.
DrG2 - I'm not the biggest fan of KPOP - it's not my favourite genre, however my friend is so I'll send this to him and see what he thinks. I like the ratata's but overall it just feels like a bit much at times - would've liked it to have been a bit toned down. It's definitely one of the more interesting kpop songs I've listened to. Over to your second song, this was SO MUCH BETTTTTER! Macklemore is actually amazing I always underrate his music but yeah, this was right up my alley and I love the music video. I'm glad you chose to honour your grandparents with this send. You might've saved yourself with this!
Thnksfrthmmrs - I'm not gonna lie I'm a bit disappointed with your first send. Yess to the gaming I love that so much - but this just wasn't doing it for me - I lost interest after the 3rd minute. I'm glad this song hits with you but I have to pass I'm sorry! Now your second entry - I'm really happy you went with a Tengaged inspiration - I find that so interesting. I like the message of the song for sure - I think differently about the execution. I quickly found myself disliking his vocals and the overall song just felt very messy. I like the message itself - I just wish you chose a different song to show the message.
tswiftlover13 - I love that you chose painting - I think that's such a cool thing to do and it sucks that I'm so bad at it XD. The song itself is very strong and I have no complaints, not Halsey's best - but still a very good song that I really enjoyed. Meghan Trainor - I would've preferred if you chose a different artist since we pretty much just had an entire theme for her, but I LOVE THIS SONG. If you sent this the previous round - you would've contended for the win. I've not listened to all the songs for this round but I think you have the most all-around package when it comes to your entries, good job
SeaViper - Now, I would've preferred if you sent something that wasn't eurovision - since you've already sent a Eurovision song in a previous round. I do love this song though - my favourite interval act behind the river dance, I just wish you went more original when it came to this theme. Dolly Parton is an absolute legend I agree with you completely. Personally, I would've liked to see Jolene but 9 to 5 is such a good song, especially for me a musical nerd. This was a lot better Rose!
oswordo3 - I do really like Kesha so this was a really good entry for me! I'm the exact same - I love going out and partying it's so much fun. The versatility in this song is amazing - going from ballady to slutty I love it - Kesha has so much range and I'm glad you chose a song to showcase this. BEBE REXHA YESSSSSS. I was so contemplating having her in last round's theme but I decided not to so seeing her here makes me very happy! Not my favourite song of hers but I still enjoyed it. Good job this week.
Geryon - Can't go wrong with Lil Nas X I love his music. I didn't know this song was a song for a game that's so cool. Songwise it isn't my favourite Lil Nas song but I thought this sounded really polished and his vocals shined here aswell. This is very uplifting - probably something I'd add to my playlist. After reading your explanation I was praying that this song would be good - I didn't mind it. It definitely didn't live up to my high hopes and the level I was expecting, but it wasn't bad I was enjoying my time listening to this. I'm very happy you are able to be your full authentic self. The woman is screaming fashion I love it. Good entries this week Geryon!
Spyder701 - I like where you went with this theme - and this was such a bop. Doja is such a fucking star like my jaw drops whenever I see or hear her. She's such an amazing artist. Both of these girls slayed and I have no complaints about this Spyder, good send! I loved the reason you sent this - YES to girl power. I haven't listened to this before and I really wanted to - and I can't lie I loved it! I love the use of the acronym. From start to finish this was just perfect. You did very well this round.
so, SeaViper and Thnksfrthmmrs, you represent the bottom 2 of the week - I think you both could've pushed it this round and gave me better entries - however one of you must go, and it pains me to eliminate...
