Hi guys, so during my Stars campaign I mentioned that I was going to make a blog just detailing my thoughts on some of the prejudices towards members of the .es and .br community. This isn't just about the Stars game I was just in, it was about what was happening on the blogs page during this as well.
I felt that having just played it was important for me to say something about it, particularly to defend some of the great people I played Stars with this past week.
So, there is a common misguidance on this website that .br and .es users are bad people, that they cheat in every game and are not people that you want to align with (that's just what I've observed).
Now, I am not denying that some users from these communities do cheat, and some are dickheads. But just because SOME do it, does not mean we as a site should categorise all Brazilian and Spanish users as "cheaters" or dickheads.
There are PLENTY and I mean PLENTY of North American/English users who have constantly been toxic, spread hate AND cheated in games.
What is the difference between this and what the .br and .es users do? There is no difference.
In FACT, these users at least allow us to bet on charities and increase T$. I don't agree with multis in any shape or form, but if you do have them, I'd rather you try and help the rest of the community, as opposed to shooting me out of a Hunger Games.
But when you go into a game do people talk about oh they're American they must possess multis, or we HAVE to get them out first?
No, we don't, that's because there is underlying xenophobia on this website whether we want to admit it or not. I've talked to many Brazilian and Spanish users in this past week and everyone of them has admitted to me the prejudice they feel just because of their nationality. And that my friends is DUMB and some of us need to grow and learn and treat everyone with respect.
In my Stars for example, a lot of people, in game and outside of the game called me a 'sheep' and 'dumb' for aligning myself with the 'Brazilian premade' when at that point in the game only 3 of that alliance remained in the game. Yet, if I were to stick with another pre-made from America with 4 members still remaining, I'm less of a sheep.
Let me ask you Tengaged how does that work?
I'll tell you, people EXPECT you to align with the people from your own speaking language. I, again, think that is dumb. I made some great Brazilian friends in the game ( Solitary , SemNome , Deneve ), I enjoyed talking to these people and trusted them more, period. That was based on the conversations I had with them, therefore why would I stick with an alliance that I didn't feel comfortable in?
Pretty evidently, I was right to make that move, but AGAIN this is another example of members from English-speaking countries sticking together, when ANYONE should be allowed to align with anyone.
Maybe we wouldn't get as many Brazilian and Spanish 'pre-mades' if we didn't completely alienate them and not give them any other option.
So I urge everyone to read this blog, and next time you go into a game please give everyone a chance, you never know what friendships you might form.
I would love to talk and get to know many, many more of you so my messages are always open if you want to have a chat and become friends.
Thankyou for reading.

So let me ask this. Do you think you benefitted from the prejudice on this site? Because honestly with you being up against a mega flavor and someone who went unnominated, I didn’t expect you to win.
Do you think because you aren’t a .br/.es player, that gave you the votes to edge out the other two?
Possibly. I don't think that was the sole reason. I do think I played the best game by far and away in the game and I think alot of people saw that.
Taking Criisan and Deneve to the final 3 was a strategic decision based off the fact that there support would be split. Whereas the people I'm friends with would all vote me. That's why I think I won the game.
But yes, prejudices exist within any facet of the site, they influence Stars polls too - thats especially why I thought I should take the responsibility of saying something.
crazybone5000 if no one else appreciates it I know I appreciate you speaking up against it. It is a big problem here and even though I guess some of it is caused by the way .com players were treated on the other sites, it doesn’t give us any right to demonize people just based on where they may be from.
If you remember people like Braga and jerimondo, they were amazing people and had so much to offer to the site. I’m glad they were here at a time when we were more open to people from the other websites
I feel like there are two types of .br and .es people and its the 'fuck every english speaker' group and the 'cutest person youll ever meet' group and theres no in between at all
Im guessing u werent here back when those sites were up but .br burned theie site to the ground and then introduced multis here. I really cant think of a .com user with a massive wave of multis anymore.
