So I studied abroad back in Feb-July 2015 in Wollongong, Australia. In March, we found out there was going to be a Mardi Gras parade in Sydney. It was a LGBT pride parade though and not like the ones in New Orleans. So we decided to go & it was my first pride parade.
But what was funny was the fact that most of us Americans had no idea it was a pride parade, we all assumed it was American style Mardi Gras. So on the train ride to Sydney, all the straight bros were wearing beads & dressed up as if we were going to NOLA. Little did they know....
As a 20 (almost 21) year old bi dude, I had never experienced anything like Sydney Mardi Gras before. In fact, I was given free soap at the event. Little did I know it was glitter soap, so I was in a bit of a surprise the next morning.
It was also at this event where I met Yunoloveme. I paid $30 AUD to get into this gay club to meet him meanwhile he sneaked for free lmao.
But yeah that's the only pride parade I've been to. The one in ATL is in October and it never fits my schedule.
