When you're talking to someone new in a game

May 1, 2019 by coreyants
Do you ask about their personal life like where they're from, what they do for a living, hobbies, etc?

Like for me if I am trying to get to know someone, I will try to get to know them a bit. I just don't get gamebots honestly. If I'm trying to build a connection in a game with someone new, I am really not going to trust you just by just talking game. I do feel now since I'm 25, I have a harder time connecting to peeps much younger. But when it's someone around the same age obviously building a connection is much easier. Like talking about AP classes, something I haven't taken in a decade, isn't going to bring us closer.. lol

I always tried to, this is one of the reasons why I stopped playing games.  A lot of players would be set in their thinking of their game/have their premades.  It would be basically impossible get to know anyone as they would either not reply to my messages or just nominate me anyway lol.  it defeats the social aspect of the game. But also I feel too old on here too (27).

And also by having nothing in common at face value is probably what "older" castmastes feel in real BB lol.

Amanyaman yeah like I just played this group game and some one of the younger people got weirded out when I asked where they're from. Like I'm not trying to stalk them just get to know them, you know? I had no problem connecting with the other 25 year old, but the 17-18 year olds were much harder to find something in common. Even if we're talking about college, I graduated 3 years ago. It just seems a lot of people want to go straight into game mode which is fine, but that's not going to build my trust with you. And I often find sometimes people are intimated by me due to my reputation, so they judge and say I'm this "big threat" w/o trying to get to know me first so it's hella annoying. But yeah I def feel like the old dude on BB LOL

I can relate to not being able to relate to people and therefore making it harder for me to be engaged in conversations. Most of the stuff people talk about on here, I haven't experienced and probably wont for a while. It definitely does take the fun away from games. I used to be obsessed with frookies but when its the same people joining and you only talk game, it just isn't fun.

yeah i can understand frooks Birks4444 bc it's always the same people

i was talking about more so in a group game situation where i didn't know many people.

its sometimes difficult for people to know how to approach that
when i started group games it took me a good few games before i did more then a few tengaged mails(which was the only communication system and really encourages people to be to the point) the more opportunity there is to encourage social game the more likely it is to happen
an island/house like irl shows is where that thrives obviously and tengaged mails being only communication is where it dies

Yes, I do this, I like to chat a lot and then get accused of spamming/trying to find "information" on people when I'm just attempting a conversation.
