Targeting veto threats early on (like before jury) in frookies, thoughts?
I know a lot of people do this, and obviously I can understand the logic of "get this person out now before they win a bunch of vetos" but at the same time, part of me feels like this really only works if you are also pretty good.
Like if I know I'm overall second best at challenges, obv I want that veto threat out so I can slide in and win as many as possible. But if you're out there sitting every veto, or scoring 110 in words and 130 in find me, what does it really matter?
You take veto threat A out, but then veto threat B starts winning them all. It's still you not winning shit.
This is a general thing I am curious to see people's thoughts on, especially people of different challenge abilities.
For someone like me, who never wins anything but deal, sometimes my best bet is making a f2 with the best veto player to hopefully win both and take me to finals. I realize I can also get hoh sometimes but it can be nice to have that option of a solid veto threat on your side
i think it makes more sense to just align with veto threats. if they win all game they have less time at the end and are more easily beatable idk. i lose most games bc im down to like 120 seconds in veto by final day lol
tcold312 see that makes sense to me and is kind of how I see it too. I get targeted a lot for being a "challenge threat" and sometimes it makes sense and I completely understand why people do it, but other times it confuses me because I feel like getting me out so the next best person can win all the vetoes doesn't actually achieve anything, and it might make more sense for that person to try to align with me and see if they can benefit from my veto skills.
hamburgerbunzz yeah, that's how I feel too. Like sometimes I will be nominated day 1, and I will message the random veto winner and ask them to veto me and tell them I will return the favor, and it shocks me sometimes when they say no, because I feel like that would be an asset, having someone who is good on your side and owing you a favor.
ah, what you say makes sense, but sometimes it can come a challenge that the person can compete. I, for example, suck at words, so in this analysis, I really don't win you. But sometimes there's a challenge that I do better, usually as sum me, find. And then, having eliminated the best of the challenges in general, can help me. I think...
It really depends on who the person is. I usually don't target veto threats because it makes no sense since I probably won't win most vetoes anyway. Sometimes though if I know they are better at Sum me though and I can win it if they aren't in the game then I will vote for them.
KrisStory yeah that makes sense. That's partially why I specified early in the game, because if it's day 1 or 2, you might not have all your solid alliances in play and unless that person targeted you the day prior, it might be beneficial to attempt to keep them around to see if they can save you. Like I have been nominated day 1 before and asked the algo day 1 veto holder to veto me and said I would return the favor if I won a veto when they were nominated, and I am always surprised when they turn me down, because why wouldn't you want that?
