One, why WOULDN'T the d word be bannable? The rules say no homophobic slurs, don't they? Nowhere does it state only slurs towards males. It has been established on here that saying the f word is bannable, even if it wasn't malicious in content, so why wouldn't it be the same for the d word?
I fully understand Bynes didn't MEAN anything hurtful, but there are still rules, and like...the point is for them to be there for everyone. NOT banning Bynes would be the unfair thing. And I am so fucking sick of people claiming I look the other way when it's my friends doing things, because I fully stated he should not have said that word, and as much as I love Bynes, I am fully agreeing he should have a ban.
And it honestly rubs me the wrong way the way people are saying that word shouldn't be included in the slurs: "It originated as a homophobic and misogynistic slur for a masculine, butch, or androgynous girl or woman." Like the word has the same type of negative history as the f word, there is just obviously a much smaller group of people on this site who fall under the lesbian umbrella as opposed to the gay one, but we don't get to pick and choose which slurs are acceptable.
That word has been used against lesbians the same way the f word has been used against homosexual males. It absolutely should be equally ban-worthy, and the fact that I even need to write an essay explaining this seems sexist.
It seems people assume slurs against males are the only ones that should be bannable
I mean idc about the word cunt but it is rude AF and everyone had a blast blogging it when they realized it’s not bannable (I know it’s not homophobic but it is derogatory and super sexist but for a site that preaches feminism idk there’s some v questionable stuff done / said re: women).
Kindred7 I see your points on that one as well, and honestly, while I admit I use that word freely, I definitely agree that it has a punch to it when a man calls me that, and I don't think the people on here realize that. It definitely does have sexism attached to it, and if that were to be bannable I would completely understand as well.
Yea cheritaisdelicious I don’t like using that word but as you said when a guy says it it’s like yea sorry you shouldn’t be saying it - also I forgot to say it (but assume it was implied) but I agree with you
