Ask Carly: FATL Q&A - S1, E1

Mar 23, 2018 by carlyjordan14
image1. Do you think Amber’s haughty nature will be her downfall?

Who’s to say really? Could it make her dangerous or could it make her a target? It’s for sure something we’ll see developing over the course of the season. If you read her bio, it gives a sense of who she is and what she has had to go through up to this point. She is for sure someone to keep an eye on this season.

2. Who do you think was the worst person at the Truth or Dare scene and why?

Obviously Amber, as she is the one who started it and was forcing Caleb and Victoria to play. The reason I wrote this scene was because I wanted to give an idea of who these teens are and their relationships. They’ve been together in the high school for a year now and as you can read there is still the same popularity lines drawn.

3. Most uncalled for comment this episode?

Probably something Amber said!

4. Is the food shortage a trap to get the strong people out so the forest men can take over?

It’s not a trap. The reality of their situation is that the food is almost gone and something must be done. The group has no idea about the forest men. The forest men only know that there are survivors living there, not really knowing how many.

5. I know this is annoying by why didn’t you cast Kendall/[X]?

This season I was able to get over 25 character applications, and there were a lot of good ones! But, I wanted to make sure everyone who applied got at least one character casted. So with that in mind there were only so many spots left and I needed to think long term. To me, Kendall wasn’t an interesting character. First off the application had her as Amber’s mom and given their ages in the application she would have had her at about 10 years old! Next, it just made for a better story if she wasn’t around. If she was with Quinn and Amber then I think their characters wouldn’t be as intriguing as they are now. They’ve both suffered a loss, so how will they go about it now? Will it save them from themselves or will it motivate them to go down a dark path?

6. Will there be more characters introduced in the series besides the current cast?

The series as a whole, yes. This season, I’m not sure. We have a lot of characters as is and only five episodes this season. So, introducing more would make things overcrowded.

7. Will we learn about what happened to land Danielle and Eden at the school throughout the season or will that be saved for ATL Season 3?

Yes! The season finale you will get a double-scenes episode (20 scenes instead of 10) that will show you EXACTLY what happened.

8. Which character who did’t have a lot of “screen time” do you see getting a lot more and possibly becoming a huge character as the story goes on?

I think we will be seeing a lot more of JoJo. Hearing from her? Possibly, but she is certainly a character to keep an eye on.

9. Is there any character so far that you’re finding it difficult to write for?

The forest men, simply because some have similar traits so I’m trying to make sure they are distinguishable enough.

10. How many siblings were there in total in Braxton’s family? Do they all share both parents or are some of them step-siblings?

I based this off of James’ character application that said he had three siblings (2 brothers and 1 sister ) who he was isolated from. To me it just clicked that he would be the younger brother of Braxton. The four siblings are Sommer, Rowen, Braxton and James - by birth order. They share the same parents.
