*August 9, 2017*
Inside the government building, Meredith and Richard watch the crashed helicopter begin to be swarmed by the walking dead. Richard begins making his way towards the door when Meredith reaches for his arm.
MEREDITH: Where are you going?
RICHARD: To check things out. This might be out one shot out of here.
MEREDITH: I’m going with you.
He nods at Ofelia who is slowly regaining consciousness.
MEREDITH: Bruce can watch her.
BRUCE: Someone say my name?
Bruce appears at the door with a tied up and gaged Finn.
RICHARD: Watch them both. We’ll be back
He pats Bruce on the shoulder and exits the room followed by Meredith. The two descend the stairs and look outside through the windows at the front of the building.
RICHARD: Looks like only a small horde left crowding around the helicopter.
MEREDITH: We need to get the gate back up to keep more from filing in.
RICHARD: It’s going to take more than us to do it.
MEREDITH: Bruce and Finn can help. Ofelia can keep watch.
RICHARD: You trust her to do that?
MEREDITH: I trust that we don’t have a choice.
Richard lets out a sigh and shakes his head until something catches his attention across the street.
RICHARD: Is that Eden?
Meredith and Richard watch as Eden slowly makes her way over to the government building while zombies ignore her. She enters the lobby and quickly, yet quietly closes the door.
RICHARD: What’s going on? Where’s Todd?
EDEN: He and Chance are trying to reach those in the church bunker.
MEREDITH: Is that how you’re able to walk by them?
She gestures towards Eden’s clothes and body smeared with zombie blood and guts.
EDEN: As long as attention isn’t drawn, we’re able to walk among the dead.
RICHARD: We need to get the gate back up to prevent more of them from entering.
EDEN: That’s what I came to see about. Who’s all here?
MEREDITH: Us, Bruce, Ofelia and one of the soldiers.
EDEN: Emmalina told us about that guy and his army showing up. Who are you?
She looks at Richard, who stretches out his hand to shake, which Eden accepts.
RICHARD: Richard Cline. Todd’s father.
EDEN: It’s good to see you alive. Todd will be happy to see you.
RICHARD: I need to get to him.
MEREDITH: Go. We can handle the gate.
RICHARD: How?
MEREDITH: Eden and I can do it with Bruce and Finn.
EDEN: Emmalina and Zale are back at the holding cell waiting for me. She isn’t in the best condition but can help keep watch.
Richard lets out a sigh and shakes his head.
RICHARD: No. I can wait to see him once this ordeal is over.
MEREDITH: Are you sure?
RICHARD: Let’s rally our troops and get to work. Our window of opportunity will close soon enough.

Inside the crashed helicopter, Sage slowly regains consciousness as the sound of snarling rings in his ears. Blood runs down his forehead as he turns to see Miles struggling to undo his seatbelt. Zoe staggers out of the pilot seat and climbs her way to the back where Sage and Miles remain seated.
ZOE: You guys ok?
SAGE: Yeah. You?
ZOE: I’ve been hurt worse in the past. Here let me help.
She carefully walks over and undoes Miles’ seatbelt. He steadies himself as he wipes away blood from his lip. Zoe pulls out her knife and cuts off Sage’s seatbelt before helping him stand. Miles goes over to the bags they brought and checks the contents inside.
ZOE: Everything still there?
Miles holds up a grenade for her to see.
ZOE: Looks like we’re going to be getting out of here boys. Come on, help me up.
——Cut To——
On the roof of the clinic, Danielle and Libby watch as the remaining horde surround the helicopter. Danielle stands up and begins to make her way to the ladder.
LIBBY: Where are you going?
DANIELLE: This might be our only chance to get down from here.
LIBBY: What about the dead?
DANIELLE: Most have made their way to the crash site.
LIBBY: What exactly do you plan to do?
DANIELLE: Take a look around. Check to see if we can make it to the church.
LIBBY: Ok…
Danielle walks over to her and pulls her into a brief hug.
DANIELLE: We can do this. Trust me, I’ve been through crazy shit before when I was out there. This…this will be a cakewalk.
Libby nods her head reluctantly as Danielle starts towards the ladder. Turning around Libby watches in shock as a female climbs out of the top of the sideways helicopter.
LIBBY: Danielle, look! There are survivors!
Danielle rushes over and squats her eyes to watch as the female helps pull up a white male.
DANIELLE: They’re wearing fatigues which means they’re soldiers.
LIBBY: They need help. They’re surrounded.
DANIELLE: They were most likely coming here to help finish us off.
LIBBY: It doesn’t matter. They need help.
Libby looks at Danielle with a desperate plea to help rescue those from the helicopter. Danielle turns her attention back to the survivors as a third person is pulled up. The three of them stand and look down at the horde gathered around them.
DANIELLE: Ok. Let’s just head down and assess the situation.
——Cut To——
Inside the freezer at Luca’s Restaurant, Holli and Aisha kneel next to Jessica as she begins to regain consciousness. Nearby, Maverick holds his twin brother, Vincent, in his arms as life slips away from his body.
VINCENT: I…I don’t want to die.
MAVERICK: We…we can get you to the clinic. Emmalina can do what she did with that lady.
VINCENT: There’s too many…too many of them out there.
MAVERICK: Then we can do it here.
He desperately looks back at the women, who struggle to keep back tears.
AISHA: We can’t. Even if we did, he could bleed out.
HOLLI: I’m sorry. The best we can do is…
MAVERICK: No! The best we can do is keep my brother alive!
Maverick sobs as Vincent gently places his hand on his brother’s arm.
VINCENT: The…the snarling stopped.
Maverick looks up and listens but only silence is heard. Holli gets up and readies her gun as she goes to open the door, but there’s no door handle.
HOLLI: Oh no.
AISHA: What is it?
HOLLI: The door. There’s no way of opening it.
JESSICA: Wait…we’re trapped in here?
MAVERICK: No. No, no, no, goddamnit no!
AISHA: There’s no telling what’s on the other side of that door.
JESSICA: So…no one could come for us?
As the reality of the situation sets in, the room falls silent except for the sound of Maverick’s sobbing.
——Cut To——
Inside the church, Todd and Chance watch as the trio of survivors stand on top of the helicopter. Turning around, Todd faces Braxton and Krista as Reina sits on a pew nearby with her baby and Penny.
TODD: Looks like three soldiers survived that crash.
CHANCE: They’re trapped on top of it.
BRAXTON: How could we get to them?
KRISTA: Get to them? They’re part of the reason why we’re in this shithole!
BRAXTON: They’re still human, Krista. They need our help.
KRISTA: No. They’re soldiers. They can figure it out themselves.
Reina cradles her baby and tries to sooth her fussing while Penny sleeps in her lap. Braxton walks over and kneels beside her.
BRAXTON: How are you holding up?
REINA: I…I can’t get the image out of my head. All of it.
BRAXTON: There’s a backroom where the orphanage was. I checked it out. It’s safe.
REINA: I’ll take them back there and wait for you all.
Braxton gently takes Penny in his arms and leads Reina towards the backroom. Krista watches before turning towards Todd.
KRISTA: We can’t help them. They could put us in more danger.
TODD: With all due respect, this isn’t your decision to make.
KRISTA: Who in the mighty hell do you think you are?
TODD: Someone who knows that leaving them trapped there would make us no better than murders.
He moves to open the church doors slightly and can see a horde of about 50 zombies swarming the helicopter. Watching intently, Todd sees Miles pulling out a grenade.
TODD: Fuck.
CHANCE: What is it?
TODD: He’s got a grenade.
KRISTA: Still want to help them?
Todd ignores her and slowly exits the church. Letting out a soft, quick whistle he grabs the attention of Sage, Miles, and Zoe. He points towards the right which leads towards a couple of empty buildings.
SAGE: What is he trying to say?
ZOE: He wants us to throw the grenade that way.
MILES: It would lead them over there. Give us a chance to get away from here.
——Cut To——
At the front gate, Eden and Meredith stand side by side with Richard, Zale, Bruce, and Finn on either side of them. Together they begin to lift the gate as Danielle, Libby, Emmalina, and Ofelia stand nearby with their guns at the ready.
EDEN: On three! One…two…three!
The group lifts the gate with all their might but quickly drop it as a loud boom echoes across the town.
BOOM!
MEREDITH: What was that?
LIBBY: The soldiers. They threw a grenade towards the far end of Revco.
Everyone watches as the horde surrounding the helicopter slowly make their way towards the far end of Revco where smoke rises. Meredith and Eden face each other and share a nod.
MEREDITH: We need to get this gate up now.
EDEN: On three! One…two…three!
The group raise the gate and manage to get it upright.
MEREDITH: We need something to reinforce the gate.
ZALE: I saw a dumpster behind that building.
EDEN: That can work for now, but we need to get out of here before more come.
Richard walks over to Finn and grabs him by the collar.
RICHARD: How much more are there of you?
FINN: I’m not telling you a fucking thing.
Richard punches him hard in the face causing him to bleed from his mouth.
RICHARD: How many!?
FINN: Fuck off!
As Richard goes to strike him again, Meredith puts her hand on his arm.
MEREDITH: Stop! It’s getting us nowhere.
She turns and begins making her way towards Sage, Miles, and Zoe who have managed to make it down from the helicopter. She raises her gun and keeps it on them.
MEREDITH: No more movement. Raise your hands over your head.
ZOE: Listen, lady, we’re not here to stir up trouble.
SAGE: We’re from here.
Meredith looks at Miles and Sage before lowering her gun.
MEREDITH: You two left earlier with that girl.
SAGE: Tessa. Her name was Tessa.
MEREDITH: Where is she and why are you dressed as soldiers?
ZOE: You ask too many questions. Basically, I’m from Darren’s group. He summoned the helicopter, but I took it over with these two noobs. We were coming to rescue everyone here, but as you saw the thing fell out the sky.
Richard, Emmalina, and Eden walk up to stand next to Meredith.
RICHARD: Are they with Darren’s army?
MEREDITH: She is, but these two are from here.
EMMALINA: It’s true. Sage was in a coma and Miles is Naomi’s nephew.
RICHARD: I see. How many more of you are there?
ZOE: Just two back at the base.
RICHARD: Just two? He made it seem he had more than that.
ZOE: He was bluffing. Most of our troops were lost or abandoned the base within the first month after the outbreak.
Eden looks at Zoe questioningly.
EDEN: Why didn’t you leave?
ZOE: I have my reasons.
Zoe glares at her before turning to look back at the horde moving further away.
ZOE: They’re distracted for now, but we need to get a move on.
MEREDITH: How far is the base from here?
RICHARD: Not far. We can get there on foot in an hour or two.
MEREDITH: Let’s do a quick run through these buildings. In and out. Get survivors to the gate and make our way to the base. The grenade was loud enough to attract more of the dead and we don’t want to become trapped again.
As the group listens to Meredith, she turns to face Eden.
MEREDITH: Show us how to camouflage ourselves. We will need it.
Eden nods and pulls out her knife.
:::::SCENE 2:::::
As the sun begins to set, Richard and Meredith lead the survivors of Revco through the woods towards the military base.
RICHARD: Only a bit more to go.
MEREDITH: They said only two soldiers were at the base.
RICHARD: I’ll believe it when I see it.
MEREDITH: I think they’re telling the truth.
RICHARD: You’re allowed to believe what you want, Mer.
MEREDITH: What do you have planned for Ofelia and Finn? The base?
RICHARD: What would you have me do? Release them?
MEREDITH: No, but I don’t think a death sentence is right either.
RICHARD: That’s your opinion. This is a new world which means new rules.
MEREDITH: Exactly. Which means we can be better than before all this.
As Richard looks over at Meredith, behind them Reina holds baby Angel in her arms as Braxton carries a sleeping Penny. Krista walks beside him with Danielle and Libby to her right.
DANIELLE: This has been one hell of a day.
KRISTA: Tell me about it. Once we get to the base I want to go check on Kevin.
BRAXTON: Kevin?
KRISTA: He’s the young guy who we traveled with since the outbreak.
DANIELLE: His sister’s death took a lot out of him. He decided to stay at a house nearby.
BRAXTON: I’ll go with you.
KRISTA: You don’t need to.
BRAXTON: You’re right. But I want to and I will.
KRISTA: If you insist.
BRAXTON: I do.
Behind them, Maverick and Aisha help a sobbing Jessica walk.
JESSICA: I…I can’t believe she’s…
AISHA: I know. Ashley was a great person. She was always very caring.
JESSICA: She deserved to live. No me.
MAVERICK: Don’t say that.
JESSICA: It’s the truth. I should have died, not her.
MAVERICK: I said stop!
AISHA: Maverick.
JESSICA: I can’t help how I feel.
AISHA: Ease up, would ya?
MAVERICK: You weren’t the only one who lost a sibling today.
Maverick starts to walks ahead of them as Aisha holds a crying Jessica. A few feet away, Ofelia and Finn are tied together with Bruce and Zale leading them.
OFELIA: This is inhumane. I’m pregnant.
BRUCE: Save it, Ofelia. You got us into this.
FINN: She at least had the balls to do something. To make a stand.
ZALE: A stand? All she did was destroy a perfectly good town because of greed.
OFELIA: You don’t know me or my intentions.
ZALE: I know enough.
OFELIA: I promise you, this isn’t over.
BRUCE: And I promise you that you’re outnumbered and shackled.
FINN: You have no idea what you’re walking towards.
BRUCE: I’ve heard enough out of these two.
Bruce turns around and puts a gag in Ofelia and Finn’s mouths. Behind them, Corey looks longingly at Emmalina who walks in front of him with her arms crossed. Near the back of the group, Holli and Zoe walk together with their guns at the ready along with Chance, Sage, and Miles.
HOLLI: So you just left them there?
ZOE: Yup. It was easier to use my rank rather than my gun.
SAGE: Will they be trouble?
ZOE: Nah. They’re pretty good at taking orders. With Darren dead, it’s much easier.
MILES: Better be.
Zoe and Miles exchange a glance as Eden and Todd walk behind the others.
EDEN: How was it reuniting with your dad?
TODD: Great. Awkward. A mix of things.
EDEN: You ok?
TODD: Yeah. Only thing I’m not ok with is what happens next.
EDEN: Anything is possible.
After a few moments, the group makes it to the outer gate of the military base. With only a couple of zombies stalking around, the base looks inviting and a welcome safe haven.
MEREDITH: We’re here. We made it.
:::::SCENE 3:::::
Inside the infirmary at the military base, Emmalina cleans up Jessica’s gunshot wound while Libby bandages up Sage’s forehead. Nearby, Reina tends to Miles who struggles to hold back tears.
REINA: Your aunt was a good woman. She looked after Penny and that baby. I know this won’t mean much…but in a way she saved Penny and my baby.
Miles remains silent as she finishes cleaning up his mouth.
MILES: Thanks.
Reina nods as he gets up and heads out of the infirmary. Zoe watches him leave as Holli turns to her.
HOLLI: Maybe you should talk to him?
ZOE: Huh?
HOLLI: I mean, you know him and all.
ZOE: For about 5 minutes. No, he’ll be fine. I need to find that Richard guy.
HOLLI: What for?
ZOE: Lay down some ground rules. He may lead that group, but this is our base. They’re just guests. Period.
In the other corner of the room, Maverick and Aisha stand next to each other.
MAVERICK: I shouldn’t have snapped earlier.
AISHA: It’s alright. You just lost your brother.
MAVERICK: And she just lost her sister and her boyfriend.
AISHA: This whole situation is horrible. Who knows what happens next?
:::::SCENE 4:::::
Walking down the road that led away from Revco, Krista looks ahead at the bodies of dead zombies littered on the ground. Beside her, Danielle and Braxton take in the bloody sight.
DANIELLE: We’re not too far from the house that Kevin chose to stay at.
KRISTA: Do you see that?
The trio look forward to see a living man kneeling next to one of the bodies. As they approach, the realization that the body is Kevin’s hits them like a ton of bricks.
KRISTA: Oh, God.
DANIELLE: No. No, no that can’t…that can’t be…
The two begin to cry as Braxton places a comforting arm around Krista.
BARRET: He was shot. It was all a misunderstanding.
Anger fills Krista’s eyes.
KRISTA: Who? Who did this?
BARRET: It doesn’t matter.
DANIELLE: To hell, it doesn’t!
BRAXTON: Keep your voices down.
Krista shrugs Braxton’s arm off of her and moves towards Barret.
KRISTA: Who. Did. This.
BARRET: Two young guys. We ended up stuck in a tree after this chaos. The kid shot me in the arm, but it was just a graze. They were coming from that town Revco this morning.
A realization hits the trio as they connect the dots of who shot Kevin.
KRISTA: The coma kid and his friend. They did this. They killed him.
BARRET: It wasn’t like that.
DANIELLE: I don’t care!
Danielle kneels down by Kevin’s body and beings to sob. After a few moments, Krista pulls her gun out on Barret.
KRISTA: How did you know Kevin?
BARRET: We…we ran into each other a couple times over the last few months. Him and his sister, the cop. I found him at that house back there and finally convinced him to go with me to Revco. We were heading there when this group of dead come out of the woods. He started shooting and accidentally shot the girl who was with the two guys. They retaliated and…shot him in the head. It was a mix-up and chaos. That’s the truth.
After a few moments of silence, Krista turns to Braxton.
KRISTA: Pick him up.
BRAXTON: What?
KRISTA: Kevin deserves to be buried. Pick him up.
Braxton reluctantly bends down and scoops Kevin’s lifeless body in his arms. As the trio begins to head back up the road, Barret stands and watches them. Danielle turns and sees Barret watching them.
DANIELLE: Should we bring him back with us.
KRISTA: I don’t care. I have other things on my mind.
BRAXTON: Whatever your planning, don’t.
KRISTA: You don’t tell me what to do.
BRAXTON: Krista.
KRISTA: Those two punks will pay for this.
BRAXTON: Stop. This isn’t you. You’re not a cold-blooded killer.
She looks at him and their eyes meet.
KRISTA: I’m not the woman you remember. I never will be again.
A chill runs down Braxton’s spine as Krista coldly makes her way down the road. Braxton watches her while Danielle walks back towards Barret.
DANIELLE: If you were heading to Revco, it’s not what it was anymore.
BARRET: What do you mean?
DANIELLE: Overrun.
BARRET: Oh.
DANIELLE: There’s a military base near there. That’s where the survivors went.
BARRET: I see.
DANIELLE: We’re heading there if you want to join.
After a few moments of thought, Barret looks at Danielle.
BARRET: Lead the way.
The two catch up with Braxton and they continue to follow behind Krista who holds her gun at the ready.
:::::SCENE 5:::::
Inside a large furnished office within the military base, Richard sits behind a desk while Meredith and Emmalina sit in the chairs in front of him.
RICHARD: When we were captured and placed down in the cell, I never expected to be back up here. Let alone behind a desk.
Emmalina sits still with her eyes fixated on a stapler. Meredith and Richard exchange a concerned look.
RICHARD: Emmalina?
She snaps out of her trance and looks to him.
RICHARD: I’m…deeply sorry for your loss. Dillon was a good man. I always called on him for his professional evaluations of the new residents. He was thorough and thoughtful.
Emmalina nods her head as she fights back tears.
EMMALINA: When you went missing, I was voted in charge of Revco.
RICHARD: Meredith caught me up on everything that took place.
EMMALINA: I let them down. All of the lives lost…are on my hands.
MEREDITH: Don’t say that. This had absolutely nothing to do with you. It was all Ofelia.
RICHARD: Meredith is right. Ofelia is the cause of the destruction.
EMMALINA: Where is she now?
Richard and Meredith exchange a look.
MEREDITH: She is being held in one of the cells. At least until she has been questioned.
EMMALINA: Let the bitch rot in there.
Emmalina stands up and is about to walk out of the office but stops.
EMMALINA: As I’m sure you already know…I resign as President.
She walks out and closes the door behind her.
RICHARD: She’ll get through this. Emmalina is tough. Like you.
He looks Meredith in the eyes and reaches for her hand, but she pulls away as there is a knock on the door.
MEREDITH: Come in.
Holli and Zoe enter the office wearing clean fatigues. Zoe glares at Richard.
ZOE: I see you made yourself comfortable.
RICHARD: It’s a nice office.
She walks up to the desk and places her hands on either side of it, leaning in just a bit to appear intimidating.
ZOE: You may be the leader of Revco, but this is our base.
RICHARD: Darren is dead. You have no leader.
ZOE: I am the leader.
Holli looks at Zoe a bit taken aback but maintains her composure. Richard slowly starts to smirk.
RICHARD: I see.
ZOE: This is my base and you are all guests in it.
RICHARD: Is that so?
MEREDITH: Richard.
Meredith gives him a stern look.
ZOE: You are welcome to stay here, but there are some ground rules to be set.
MEREDITH: Such as?
ZOE: This. This here is my office. You’re welcome to utilize one of the smaller ones down the hall. Next, there will be chores, a curfew and standard procedures to be followed by all guests. No exceptions. Finally, all weapons and vehicles will be locked away. We’re behind two sets of fences and strong walls. There’s no need for everyone packing heat. Especially when there is no trust yet. These items can be checked out if I deem necessary and grant approval. Is that clear?
Richard looks at Meredith clearly aggravated, but with her eyes, she non-verbally signals for him to keep his cool. He looks back at Zoe and forces a smile.
RICHARD: All clear.
ZOE: Good.
RICHARD: On one condition.
ZOE: Which is?
RICHARD: The prisoners, the weapons and everything else we brought here is mine. You have no say in what happens to them.
ZOE: Fine.
Richard and Meredith stand up and exit the office.
HOLLI: What the hell, Zoe? Are you in charge now? I outrank you!
ZOE: That was before. This is now.
Zoe walks around and sits in the comfortable chair behind the desk.
ZOE: This is now.
——Cut To——
Walking into an empty office down the hall, Richard hits his right hand with his fisted left hand as Meredith closes the door.
RICHARD: This is bullshit!
MEREDITH: Calm down.
RICHARD: What was that back there? You just want us to roll over for them?
MEREDITH: No, but we don’t need to escalate matters.
RICHARD: They’re already escalated! We have the people. We should have made a stand.
MEREDITH: Now isn’t the time.
RICHARD: How so?
MEREDITH: We have to be smart about this. We don’t know how many soldiers there truly are. They used a radio to contact Ofelia, so what makes you think they haven’t contacted backup? We need to calm down and observe. Map out the base. Form connections with those two girls and establish trust. That’s the only way we can logically prevent from being placed in a no-win situation.
Richard plops down on a couch with his hands in his hair.
RICHARD: I feel like I’m losing control. It’s slipping away.
MEREDITH: Snap out of it. You still are the leader of the Revco people. They trust you.
RICHARD: It doesn’t fucking matter now! Those two bitches have complete control.
MEREDITH: That’s what they think. Let them think it. Don’t be stupid and gets us all killed because of your enlarged ego.
Richard stands up and heads for the door.
MEREDITH: Where are you going?
RICHARD: To check on our prisoners. Get some answers.
:::::SCENE 6:::::
Inside the infirmary, Braxton lays Kevin’s body down on a cot as Krista, Danielle and Barret look on.
DANIELLE: I’ll go find someone to help us get him cleaned up.
BRAXTON: Cleaned up?
DANIELLE: For the burial.
Danielle walks off and Barret awkwardly stands around as Krista starts to exit the infirmary. Braxton sees the fury in her eyes and quickly follows her. Out in the hall, he pulls her arm to stop her.
KRISTA: Let go of me!
BRAXTON: No. I will never let go of you. You’ve changed, Krista, but you’re still the woman I fell in love with. The woman I want to spend the rest of my life with. The woman who is not a cold-blooded killer. I don’t care who you think you’ve become because I know who are you. So just stop. Take a breath and lean on me damn it! I’m here for you. I’ve been here for you. Don’t start pushing me away after all the years we have had together.
She yanks her arm from his grip and glares at him in the eyes. Tears begin to well up and she falls into his arms. Sobbing, Krista clings to his body as he holds her.
KRISTA: I’m. So…tired.
BRAXTON: It’s ok. Let’s get you some rest.
The two walk down the hallway, holding onto each other like life preservers.

Down in the cells of the military base, Richard and Meredith start to head towards Ofelia’s cell when they hear footsteps behind them. Turning around they see Todd and Eden making their way towards them.
TODD: Going to see Ofelia?
RICHARD: I need answers.
EDEN: About why and how she brought Darren and that horde to Revco?
RICHARD: That, but more importantly the father of her child.
Todd’s face begins to lose color and his eyes widen as Eden looks on.
TODD: Ofelia…she’s pregnant?
RICHARD: Apparently she got knocked up before the outbreak.
MEREDITH: If we can believe her.
RICHARD: If true, that child isn’t mine.
Eden watches as Todd reaches to wipe sweat from his forehead.
EDEN: How can you be sure?
TODD: My father…he had a vasectomy.
Todd turns around as Richard and Meredith head towards Ofelia’s cell. Eden watches as Todd puts a hand on his head and begins pacing nervously.
TODD: This…this can’t be happening.
EDEN: It’s yours. The baby…it’s yours.
Todd looks into Eden’s eyes as a mixture of fear and worry rushes through his body. She turns her head to see Richard and Meredith stop outside of Ofelia’s cell.
Inside her cell, Ofelia sits up on the cot and looks at Richard and Meredith with a slight smirk.
OFELIA: Look who decided to visit.
RICHARD: I want answers.
OFELIA: To what?
RICHARD: Who the real father of that baby is.
OFELIA: This baby inside me is yours.
RICHARD: Cut the crap. It’s not mine.
OFELIA: I understand this will be an adjustment but…
MEREDITH: No. No adjustments. Richard isn’t the father.
OFELIA: You need to mind your own business.
RICHARD: I had a vasectomy. That child isn’t mine, so whose is it.
A sense of uncertainty falls over Ofelia as she contemplates her answer. Richard gets close to the cell bars and sneers at her.
RICHARD: Who. Is. It?
Todd turns to look at his father.
TODD: It’s mine. I’m…I’m the father.
Richard and Meredith turn to Todd who stands firmly next to Eden with a look of remorse.
RICHARD: What?
TODD: When you went on your last business trip, I came home after getting kicked out of college. Ofelia and I got to talking…drinking. It was the biggest mistake of my life, dad. I didn’t mean to…
Richard turns away, unsure what to say or how to feel. Meredith places a comforting hand on Richard’s shoulder before facing Ofelia.
MEREDITH: You slept with your boyfriend’s son?
OFELIA: It was a mistake.
MEREDITH: You’re full of mistakes. How could you do this?
OFELIA: You weren’t there! I don’t give a fuck about what you think!
RICHARD: Enough!
Richard turns back around and walks towards Todd who braces for whatever comes next. Richard stops in front of him and stares deep into his eyes.
RICHARD: She’s your problem now.
Richard shoulder checks Todd and walks down the hall leaving the rest of them in silence.
:::::SCENE 8:::::
*Two Days Later*
In a large auditorium within the military base, Richard stands behind a podium. Meredith stands behind him along with Zoe and Holli. In the room, all the survivors of Revco sit in silence awaiting his announcement.
RICHARD: When the outbreak occurred there was chaos. The world as we knew it was ending. Revco became a safe haven. A place for those seeking safety to flock to. A place where a new beginning could be had. Now…now we have a new home. It will take some adjusting, but this military base far exceeds Revco on many fronts. It’s fully stocked, secure and strong. In the coming weeks, we will begin the closing of Revco. Taking out the remaining dead, gathering supplies and anything salvageable. However, one thing will remain from Revco and that is the government. For now, I will resume my role as President. Meredith will take over the role of Vice-President. The last three positions on the board will be held by Bruce, Braxton, and Zoe.
As the audience murmurs, Richard nods to Meredith for her to take to the podium.
MEREDITH: Change is hard. But, change is needed for survival. Once Revco is closed, we will look to the future. There’s a larger world out there beyond Revco and beyond this base. New resources, new people and new ways of survival. Things here will be strict, but it’s for the good of everyone. Before the outbreak, I was a chemist. There is a research lab on base that I will be utilizing in the effort of potentially finding a cure. I can’t guarantee one will be found…but I can promise that I will do what I can within my abilities to help this community have the best shot at living. With Specialist McKinney and Sergeant Biel’s help, this military base can become a home. I know it’s not what any of us…well most of us are used to. But together, we can make this work. Together…we can survive.

I still plan to carry out the series and am constantly thinking of storylines and scenes. Among The Living isn’t going anywhere! I loved this episode, but it's so sad that now Vincent is dead :(. I'm not sure where Maverick's headed next, but I know for sure he won't take this lying down. I'm scared regarding Krista's exclamation about revenge, Sage can't die!
