Ask Carly: ATL Q&A - S2, E8

Jan 13, 2018 by carlyjordan14
image1. Who died the most horrific death in your opinion?

Jeremy. He just reunited with his baby daughter and so that was a really tough death scene to write. It was heartbreaking also because he is a season 1 original character. The reason for his death, aside from the interactive choice made by the readers, was also how much of a background character he’s been. He was one of those characters that never really got their footing. Plus, the Tengaged user who created the character has been inactive for a few months (on/off).

2. If you were in the bunker what would you have done?

I would have considered the air vent option since there is a chance for it to be more controlled. The doors would have only caused chaos and waiting would have almost guaranteed death.

3. What if another choice was made - like what if Sage and Miles went right or split up?

If Sage and Miles went right they would have found the vehicles and helicopter. However, the would have encountered the two soldiers first rather than Zoe. If they had split up, one would have ran into Zoe while the other would have encountered the two soldiers.

4. What if the bunker group didn’t use the air vent to try and escape?

If they would have tried going through the doors, there would be a 98% chance everyone would have died. Simple because the opening is bigger than the air vent - which would have allowed for more zombies to enter. With the air vent, it was still chaos but was more steady as the hole was smaller and near the end the zombies got stuck. If they would have waited for help, Todd and Chance would have most likely been bit given how many zombies there were and the attention they’d have gotten trying to reach the bunker. Overall the scenario that would have prevented the most deaths is most likely waiting for help or the air vent.

5. How much will the storyline alter based on the choice to make regarding the helicopter crash?

The overall storyline won’t be impacted too much, but depending on who lives and/or dies presents opportunities for certain information and relationships to unfold.

6. Why did you decide to make Ofelia pregnant and who is the baby daddy?

From the start, Ofelia wasn’t pregnant in my mind while writing her. But, when I saw that the actress was pregnant in real life I thought it would be an interesting twist to add in. The baby daddy is seemingly Todd, given Richard’s vasectomy reveal AND the fact that Todd slept with her just before the outbreak.

7. What do you think of Emmalina having sex with Corey?

I think she is a very complex woman who is struggling to maintain her morality. As the president of Revco and medical expert, she is heavily relied on. That’s a lot of pressure, plus the cracks in her marriage has only been further revealed since the outbreak. It was more so an act of grief for her than anything. Plus how could she resist a sexy, passionate younger man?

8. What can we expect for the last two episodes of this season and the overall series?

The TWO-EPISODE season finale will bring an end to the horde of Revco and set us up for the future of ATL and FATL. Episode 9 will deal mostly with the conclusion of the horde of Revco storyline. Episode 10 will tie up some loose ends and introduce the path towards Fear Among The Living.

9. Is there any Fear Among The Living news?

Once the two-episode finale is posted, character applications for FATL will be posted. The series should hopefully begin near the end of January/early February. In addition, episodes per season for both FATL and ATL will be 5, as opposed to 10. The reason for this is to make the seasons easier to write and digest as a reader.

10. Will your other blog series, “Once Upon A Scream” ever be finished?

No. After some thought, I decided that the series is best left alone as it didn’t have a lot of interest from readers or myself. Plus, the ATL universe is taking a lot of my creative abilities at the moment and I don’t want to steer away from that. While OUAS was fun to write, it was more of a testing of the waters for me. Maybe in the future I’ll post a brief wrap up for it.

I realized too late that the question I asked was already answered by the end of the survey, but I'm glad others had some good questions! :)
