*August 6, 2017*
In a room inside one of the Revco buildings, Todd sits at a table. Directly across from him sits Ofelia with Emmalina and Naomi Walters to her right. On Ofelia’s left sits Bruce and Luca. Standing behind them, against the wall, is Dillon.
TODD: You’re sitting in my father’s seat.
OFELIA: When your father is outside the Revco walls, I oversee his position.
TODD: Isn’t that what a vice president is for?
He looks over at Emmalina who remains silent.
OFELIA: While Emmalina is a trusted member of this community, I felt it was best to assume this role of sorts to ensure your father’s returns is smooth.
Todd looks at her with suspicion before she clears her throat.
OFELIA: I would think you’d be appreciated of this.
TODD: I guess I’m just readjusting to life at Revco.
OFELIA: You have been gone for a few months.
TODD: Took longer than anticipated.
OFELIA: We are happy to see you alive and well.
After a moment of awkward silence, Ofelia’s smile at Todd fades.
OFELIA: Let’s get down to business.
LUCA: About time. I’ve got shit to do.
OFELIA: Todd, tells us what you know of those you brought with you.
TODD: A few months back, when I was separated from the group, I managed to escape by saving Eden. She was abandoned by her group. Left for dead. I saved her and we’ve been together ever since.
Ofelia eyes him with a curious facial expression.
OFELIA: “Together?”
TODD: Yes. Together.
Todd looks at her with seriousness and confidence in his answer. After a moment she sits back in her seat, staring at him.
OFELIA: What about the others?
TODD: The three with us was her old group.
OFELIA: The ones who abandoned her?
TODD: Yes.
NAOMI: Why would they do such a thing?
TODD: From my understanding, Chandler and Nate were the ones solely responsible for leaving her behind. Zale…he didn’t know that she was abandoned until yesterday. Chandler, she knocked Eden out and left her for dead in one of the skyscrapers downtown. Needless to say, when they saw her alive yesterday it was a shock.
The board members look between each other taking in the information provided by Todd. Ofelia turns to look Todd straight in the eyes.
OFELIA: What is your personal recommendation?
TODD: Eden is not a threat.
OFELIA: And the others?
After a moment of hesitation, Todd starts to answer.
TODD: I don’t believe they are a threat either.
OFELIA: Even this Chandler girl?
TODD: Yes. Even her.
Ofelia turns to look at the other board members.
OFELIA: Thoughts?
LUCA: I say kick them all out.
OFELIA: Mr. Ferrari, we are only voting on if they should remain in the holding cell.
LUCA: I don’t give a shit. My vote is final. We don’t need any more strangers.
Luca gets up and walks out of the building. Ofelia rolls her eyes and faces Bruce.
BRUCE: Um…I would like to hold my decision until Dillon has conducted his interviews.
NAOMI: Same goes for me. I think that is only fair.
Ofelia turns to face Emmalina, who looks over at her husband.
EMMALINA: I will wait until my husband finishes his assessment.
Ofelia turns to face Todd.
OFELIA: Dillon, conduct the interviews and notify me when you are ready to present your assessments with the board.
Todd glares at her as she stands up and walks towards a back room. After a moment, he gets up and follows her. Heading upstairs he follows her into a room that was turned into an office. She stands near a window pouring herself a glass of water.
OFELIA: All this time…I assumed you were dead.
TODD: I’m starting to think coming here wasn’t the best choice.
She turns to face him, takes a sip of her water and smirks as she swallows. Putting down the glass, she walks over to him and touches his cheek.
OFELIA: I’ve missed you.
As she goes in to kiss him, Todd pushes her away. She stands back and looks at first shocked, but then lets out a slight laugh.
OFELIA: This girl has you wrapped around her finger.
TODD: Her name is Eden.
OFELIA: Oh, yes. The garden where the forbidden fruit grows. Do you love her?
She turns and walks towards the window before turning back to face him. He remains silent.
OFELIA: What we had…
TODD: We had nothing.
OFELIA: I beg to differ.
TODD: What happened before was a mistake.
OFELIA: What happened before was electric.
He walks over to her and turns her to face him. She looks up into his eyes with anticipation.
TODD: You tell no one about what happened. Do you understand?
She chuckles and continues to smirk up at him.
OFELIA: You still want me.
TODD: No, I don’t.
OFELIA: It’s in your eyes. The hunger for my lips against yours. The urge to run your hand up my thigh and lets your fingers explore every part of my body. My heated breath sending chills down your spine as I pull you closer.
Todd continues to stare are her as she begins to run her hands over his chest. She looks up at him, longing for his kiss. He smirks and moves in close so his lips are near her ear.
TODD: That worked before. But never will again.
He stands back and the two glare at each other before he turns to exit the room. Once he’s gone, Ofelia turns to look out the window with hatred in her eyes.
:::::SCENE 2:::::
In a small office, Dillon sits in a chair with a notepad resting on his crossed leg. He writes a note on the paper as Zale looks over at a bookshelf with various items. Dillon looks up and follows Zale’s eyes to the shelf.
DILLON: Just some things I managed to collect along the way.
ZALE: Have you been in Revco long?
DILLON: My wife, Emmalina, and I were one of the first to join the community.
ZALE: What exactly is this community like?
DILLON: We are survivors moving to make Revco as normal as possible.
ZALE: Given the circumstances?
DILLON: Precisely. Now, let’s get to the real reason why you’re here.
ZALE: Todd invited us to come.
DILLON: And what did you think when he extended the invitation.
——Cut To——
NATE: Hopeful, I guess. Honestly, I wasn’t thinking much about it.
DILLON: What were you thinking about?
NATE: My relationship with Zale.
DILLON: And what exactly is your relationship with him?
NATE: He’s my boyfriend. Or at least he was before…
DILLON: Before?
NATE: I hid something from him and I may have ruined things forever.
DILLON: What did you hide from him?
NATE: The truth.

DILLON: Which is?
CHANDLER: I. It doesn’t matter.
DILLON: I think it does.
CHANDLER: It’s not your business.
DILLON: From what I understand you physically assaulted Eden.
CHANDLER: I hit her.
DILLON: Why?
CHANDLER: Because she was holding us back.
DILLON: How so?
——Cut To——
EDEN: Chandler felt I was getting too close with Zale.
DILLON: In a romantic sense?
EDEN: Yes. We were starting to see where things could go.
DILLON: And she felt threatened?
EDEN: I don’t think she was jealous. I think she thought I was too weak.
DILLON: How does it make you feel that she’s back in your life?
EDEN: At first I felt anger…but now…now I just feel…indifferent.
DILLON: Indifferent?
EDEN: I will never forgive or forget what she did. But I also won’t allow it to ruin my life. I’m with Todd now and I’m not about to allow her past actions impact my life.

In the holding cell, Zale sits on the ground staring at the jail-like bars of the cell. On a cot nearby, Eden lays down and stares up at the ceiling. Looking out a small window, Chandler watches the clouds move across the sky. Standing with one foot against the wall, Nate crosses his arms and looks sadly at Zale.
Moments later the sound of footsteps approaching causes the foursome to face the cell’s front as Todd, Ofelia, and Dillon approach. Eden gets up and walks up to the bars as Todd smiles at her.
EDEN: Are we getting out?
TODD: You are. Zale and Nate are too.
DILLON: After evaluating you each individually, I’ve decided you three are no threat to Revco.
CHANDLER: But I am? This is bullshit.
Chandler turns back to face the window as Ofelia opens the cell’s door for Zale, Nate, and Eden. Once outside of the cell, Todd pulls Eden into an embrace as Ofelia and Zale look on.
TODD: Let’s get you checked out.
Todd takes Eden’s hand and she follows him out of the building.
DILLON: You boys are free to move about Revco. I’d recommend stopping by the clinic to be looked over by my wife, Emmalina.
Zale extends his hand towards Dillon and the two shake. Zale pushes past Nate and heads out of the building. Nate follows right after. Ofelia and Dillon then turn their attention to Chandler.
OFELIA: I hope you understand this is only temporary.
DILLON: Once the president returns you will be reviewed officially by the board.
CHANDLER: And what if I wish not to be?
OFELIA: Then you would be escorted beyond the walls of Revco.
DILLON: Is that something you’re considering? Being out there on your own.
After a moment of silence, Chandler turns to face the two of them with a serious expression.
CHANDLER: Being here is no different than being out there on my own.
DILLON: I’m sorry you feel that way.
OFELIA: Dr. Dillon, would you mind giving us a moment alone?
Dillon nods and exits the building. Ofelia watches as Chandler turns back to face the window. Ofelia reaches into her pocket and pulls out a key. She unlocks the cell’s door and leaves it wide open. Chandler watches her as she stands back and smiles.
OFELIA: If you want to go. You can go. There’s nothing holding you here.
CHANDLER: You’re right. There’s nothing here for me.
OFELIA: Then what are you waiting for? The door is open. You can walk out of here right now and make it out there on your own. Be your own hero. Or you could stay here and work towards your goal.
Ofelia walks into the cell and Chandler watches her with interest.
OFELIA: I understand you, Chandler. Hell, I am you. We both have a desire to prove not only our worth but that we alone can strengthen the group we attach ourselves to. While we are independent, we are also seekers of those more dependent. Out there, alone, you will survive. But to what end? Here, you will survive but for a greater purpose. Revco needs strong-willed leaders such as you and me. Stick around and see what you’re capable of being.
Ofelia leaves the cell and closes the door. Chandler watches her intently.
OFELIA: The door is unlocked. If you choose to leave, you’re welcome to. But, if you wish to see what you can bring to Revco, stick around until the president returns.
Ofelia turns and exits the building. Chandler walks up to the door and pushes it slightly, causing it to open. She looks around at the cell and then back to the window, wondering what she should do.
:::::SCENE 3:::::
Driving through the woods, the 18-wheeler begins to have smoke coming from under the hood. Meredith brings the truck to a stop and turns off the engine as Reina and her baby sleep in the passenger seat. She hops out and walks towards the front of the truck as Braxton and Jeremy climb down from the truck’s trailer.
JEREMY: What happened?
MEREDITH: Truck’s overheated.
She quickly pops open the hood and moves her hand back from the heat. Fanning away the smoke, Meredith looks under the hood defeated.
JEREMY: What now?
BRAXTON: I’ll go scout up ahead. Maybe find another vehicle we can use.
MEREDITH: I’ll come with you.
Jeremy watches the two of them start to leave and nerves begin to set in. Meredith turns around and walks over to him.
MEREDITH: We won’t be long. She and the baby are sleeping.
JEREMY: I’m ok. We’ll be ok.
He reaches behind him and pulls out his gun to show her. She pats him on the shoulder and gives him a half-hearted smile before turning to follow Braxton. Once out of sight, Jeremy climbs up into the driver’s seat and looks out at the quiet woods surrounding them.
:::::SCENE 4:::::
Walking down a road, Krista towards a convenience store with Kevin and Danielle not far behind. The trio enters the store and begin to look around.
DANIELLE: Not much left.
KRISTA: Let’s get what we can.
The two women begin to rummage through the remaining store items as Kevin walks towards the back. He stops and notices a bullet hole on the wall next to a slightly closed door. He pulls out his gun and slowly opens the door. Inside he sees the dark room with nothing inside except some empty boxes.
DANIELLE: Find anything useful?
KEVIN: No. But I did see this.
He points to the bullet hole in the wall.
KRISTA: We should get going.
The trio starts to head for the front but stop when they see a horde of zombies stalking towards the entrance. They begin to claw and bang on the windows and door, sensing the fear and blood waiting inside.
DANIELLE: Let’s try the back exit.
They begin to race to the back door. Krista opens it but quickly slams it shut as zombies snarl close by.
KRISTA: We’re surrounded.
DANIELLE: Fuck.
CRASH!
The trio looks back towards the front of the store as zombies begin to pour inside through the now broken window. They each pull out their guns and begin firing at the zombies as they approach.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
KEVIN: There’s too many of them!
BANG! BANG! BANG! CLICK! CLICK!
DANIELLE: I’m out!
KRISTA: Me too!
The women toss their guns to the side and pull out their knives. Back to back, they begin stabbing at the zombies coming towards them. Kevin pushes past a small group and climbs up onto a nearby store shelf.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
KEVIN: I’m going to clear a path to the window! Go! Go! Go!
BANG! BANG! BANG!
Kevin fires shot after shot at the zombies making a narrow path towards the broken window. Krista and Danielle gradually make their way towards it while stabbing those clawing at them.
KRISTA: Kevin, come on!
Kevin jumps down and pulls out his knife. He begins stabbing and pushing back zombies as he makes his way towards Krista and Danielle. Soon the trio is able to make it outside and start to sprint down the road without looking back.
:::::SCENE 5:::::
Back at Revco, Eden sits on a bed in the clinic as Emmalina checks her breathing with a stethoscope. Todd stands nearby with his arms crossed.
EMMALINA: You’re good to go.
EDEN: Thank you, Dr. McKaulin.
EMMALINA: Come see me if you ever need medical attention.
She takes off her gloves and walks back into her office.
TODD: Let’s go get you something to eat.
The two exit the clinic just as Zale and Nate are about to enter.
EDEN: Here to get checked out?
ZALE: Yeah. Was everything ok with you?
EDEN: Yeah, I’m ok.
ZALE: Good.
He smiles at her but quickly loses it as he notices Todd staring at him. Zale proceeds inside as the couple exits.
EMMALINA: I’ll be right with you. Have a seat on the bed.
Zale walks over to one of the beds and sits down. Nate walks over and stands next to him.
ZALE: Could you stop following me like a lost puppy?
NATE: Babe, I want to make sure you’re ok.
ZALE: I don’t want you around me. What part of that don’t you get?
NATE: We need to talk about this.
ZALE: Forget it.
Zale gets up and storms out of the clinic. Shortly after Nate comes running after him.
NATE: Zale!
Zale walks down the sidewalk as Nate runs up to him and pulls him back.
NATE: Don’t walk away from me.
Zale looks at Nate with anger, causing Nate to take a moment to find his confidence to speak.
NATE: I know what I did was wrong.
ZALE: It was disgusting.
NATE: I didn’t tell you because I didn’t want to hurt you.
ZALE: You didn’t tell me because you wanted to protect Chandler.
NATE: I didn’t want the truth to prevent us from moving forward. From surviving.
ZALE: The truth? There was no truth! Eden is alive!
NATE: At the time…
ZALE: At the time you should have manned up and said something. Maybe then we could have been the ones to save Eden.
Nate rolls his eyes and scoffs.
NATE: That’s what this is all about.
ZALE: What?
NATE: You’re only pissed because Todd saved Eden and not you.
ZALE: That’s bullshit. You know what I meant.
NATE: Yeah, I do. You’re still hung up on her.
ZALE: She was our friend.
NATE: And she still can be. But I’m in your life now, not her.
ZALE: If this was the old world, you’d be charged with as an accessory to attempted murder.
NATE: Zale.
ZALE: Now THAT is the truth. Honestly, I can’t even be around you right now. So do me a favor and leave me the FUCK alone.
Zale turns around and storms off as Nate watches hurt.

Inside the pharmacy, Todd and Eden shake hands with Libby and Ashley.
ASHLEY: It’s nice to meet you. I’ve heard a lot about you.
TODD: Good things I hope.
ASHLEY: Of course. Your father always talked about you during his speeches.
LIBBY: You and your brother.
Todd slightly smiles before turning to Eden.
TODD: So this is the pharmacy. It’s where all the medical supplies and medication is stored.
LIBBY: I oversee everything here.
ASHLEY: I work both in here and with Dr. Emmalina as her nurse.
LIBBY: Although, Dr. Emmalina usually prefers to work alone.
ASHELY: So you will usually find me in here. Sometimes with my sister, Jessica.
EDEN: I used to work at a doctors office temporarily, so if you ever need help.
LIBBY: For sure will let you know.
The ladies smile before Todd and Eden turn to exit the pharmacy. Once outside, Todd takes Eden’s hand and leads her towards a building a few doors down.
TODD: Now if you tell anyone that this is one of my favorite places, I’ll deny it.
EDEN: What is it?
TODD: You’ll see, princess.
He leads her inside where there are a few chairs lined up in rows, leaving room for an aisle up the middle. The aisle leads up to a wooden pulpit and a large cross hanging on the back wall.
EDEN: A church?
TODD: Well I don’t mind the church, but it’s what’s in the back that’s the best.
He leads her to a closed door in the back of the room. When he opens it, Eden is able to see a room with colorful walls, cribs, toys and a small piano. Facing away from them, a woman holds a toddler in her arms and smiles at the little girl. She turns around and beams when her eyes land on Todd.
NAOMI: And people say prayers don’t work!
TODD: It’s good to see you again. Eden, this is Naomi Walters. She is Revco’s resident pastor and oversees the orphanage. Naomi, this is Eden.
Naomi places the little girl on the ground so she can play with toys before walking over to shake hands with Eden.
NAOMI: It’s always a blessing to see a new face.
EDEN: It’s nice to meet you.
Eden looks around and sees a baby boy sleeping inside one of the cribs.
EDEN: Where are their parents?
NAOMI: Sadly, we don’t know. This little girl was brought to us by a young lady who used to babysit her. During the outbreak, she was watching her and when the parents never returned, she did what was needed to survive. The Lord then led her here.
Naomi looks down and smiles at the little girl as Todd sits on the ground near her. He starts to play with her which causes Eden to smile.
EDEN: She seems happy.
NAOMI: We as a community do what we can to ensure they’re not only safe but healthy.
EDEN: What about the baby?
NAOMI: He was found alone in a home, screaming in his crib, when President Cline was out on a run. If he hadn’t shown up when he did, this little one wouldn’t have survived. God must have something special in store for him.
Naomi walks over to the baby and smiles. Eden looks back down at Todd as he continues to make silly faces for the little girl to laugh at. He looks up and smiles at her.
TODD: Sorry, I forgot to introduce you to the other lady in my life.
EDEN: Oh really? She couldn’t resist your charms either?
TODD: What can I say, I just have that it factor.
She chuckles as he stands up with the little girl in his arms.
TODD: This here is Penny.
EDEN: Hi, Penny!
Todd hands her over to Eden, who happily takes the Penny in her arms. He watches her as she makes the little girl smile. After a moment, Eden’s face loses its glow and she starts to slightly sway.
NAOMI: Here, let me take her.
Naomi takes Penny from Eden as Todd rushes to her side to hold her steady.
TODD: Let’s get you something to eat.
He walks her out of the building and across the street to Luca’s. Once inside the two sit down at a table as Tommy walks over with two glasses of water.
TOMMY: Welcome back, man.
Tommy and Todd share a handshake.
TOMMY: I’ll get you both set up.
Tommy walks to the back of the restaurant as Eden drinks the water.
EDEN: You even have a restaurant?
TODD: It’s nothing like it used to be.
EDEN: No pasta on the menu?
TODD: Just whatever we can find out there. Ration. Out back they started growing vegetables.
Tommy comes out with two plates, both with two slices of tomato, two leaves, two olives and one-half of a boiled egg.
TOMMY: Enjoy.
TODD: Thanks.
Without skipping a beat Eden begins to devour the food. Todd slightly smirks causing her to look up.
EDEN: I’m sorry.
TODD: No, you need to eat. I’m just happy you’re here.
EDEN: I’m happy to be here.
The two smile at each other before continuing to eat the food on their plates.
:::::SCENE 6:::::
Walking through the woods, Meredith and Braxton make it to a road that parallels to a railroad track. Looking in both directions they realize not a single car is in sight.
BRAXTON: So much for finding another vehicle.
MEREDITH: We’ll just have to walk the rest of the way. It should only take a day or so.
BRAXTON: Do you think she has it in her?
MEREDITH: We don’t have a choice. Trust me, I’d prefer not having a new mom walking out here with a newborn but what are the other options?
Meredith lets out a sigh.
MEREDITH: I’m sorry. I don’t mean to snap at you.
BRAXTON: I get it. Krista is similar in that way.
MEREDITH: How so?
BRAXTON: When she is really determined, she’ll stop at nothing to do what’s best.
MEREDITH: Sounds like my kind of gal.
BRAXTON: I think you two will get along.
MEREDITH: I can’t wait to meet her.
BRAXTON: You believe she is alive?
MEREDITH: Do you?
BRAXTON: I do. It’s just not always easy to keep that hope alive.
Meredith smiles weakly at Braxton.
MEREDITH: If she is anything like you’ve said, I know she is out there. Alive.
BRAXTON: Thank you.
MEREDITH: Let’s get back.
The two turn around and head back into the woods, where they came from.

Sitting in the driver's seat, Jeremy is asleep with Reina in the passenger seat, also asleep.
THUMP!
The sound startles them both awake and causes baby Angel to start to cry. Jeremy looks out the side of his window and sees a horde of zombies approaching from his side.
JEREMY: They’re coming.
REINA: What do we do?
Jeremy looks out Reina’s window and notices it is clear.
JEREMY: We have to go.
REINA: But what about…
JEREMY: We don’t have time. That horde is coming and we’ll become trapped in here.
REINA: Oh my God.
JEREMY: Reina.
She looks at him on the verge of tears. He instinctively cups her cheek with his right hand.
JEREMY: I won’t let anything happen to you or Angel. Trust me.
She nods and blinks away the tears as he reaches over to open her door. She careful climbs down and he quickly follows her. Zombies begin to approach as the baby cries louder.
JEREMY: Come on!
Jeremy pushes Reina forward as he fires his gun at a nearby zombie.
BANG!
——Cut To——
The sound of the gunshot stops Braxton and Meredith in their tracks. They share a scared look and start to dash to the broke down 18-wheeler. Just as they get closer the notice the horde of zombies surrounding the truck. Meredith squints her eyes and sees no one is inside the truck.
MEREDITH: They’re gone.
Just then the sound a twig snapping under her foot causes some of the zombies to start stalking in their direction.
BRAXTON: Let’s go.
MEREDITH: We can’t just leave them!
BRAXTON: We don’t have a choice, Meredith. We would die facing that horde alone.
She looks back at the zombies as they all begin to approach. Meredith begins to tear up as Braxton pushes her back towards the road they found earlier. Once they make it the two of them run down the abandoned road.
:::::SCENE 7:::::
Miles, Sage, and Tessa walk up to a giant gated community with the word “REVCO” painted in large red letters.
MILES: We made it. You two happy now?
TESSA: We did it!
Tessa beams at Sage who smiles back at her. Almost instantly the smile fades from his face and his eyes roll back.
TESSA: Sage!?
Miles quickly catches Sage before he hits the ground unconscious.
MILES: Help! We need help out here!
Moments later the Revco gates open as Miles and Tessa carry an unconscious Sage into the community. Todd, Eden, Zale, and Nate rush over, followed by Emmalina, Dillon and Ofelia.
TESSA: Please help! He just passed out.
EMMALINA: Hurry, bring him to the clinic!
Zale and Todd relieve Miles and Tessa and quickly carry Sage towards the clinic. Miles and Tessa start to follow, but Ofelia stops them.
OFELIA: Not so fast.
MILES: That’s our friend.
OFELIA: He will get the medical treatment he needs, but you are not about to…
ZELMA: Hey! Let them through!
Ofelia turns to see Chance and Zelma quickly making their way towards them.
OFELIA: You know them?
CHANCE: Yes, they were imprisoned with us.
ZELMA: I’m so happy you made it out of there alive! Wait…where’s Maddie?
Tessa begins to tear up causing Zelma to quickly pull her into an embrace.
OFELIA: I’m sorry, but the rules…
Zelma quickly turns to face Ofelia.
ZELMA: The rules can be put aside for now. These kids are no harm to you or this community. Now you will let them into the clinic, little girl. Is that understood?
Ofelia looks at Zelma with contempt before turning to face Miles and Tessa.
OFELIA: You may go.
She turns to look at Zelma square in the eye.
OFELIA: But they are your responsibility. Is that understood?
ZELMA: Perfectly.
She pushes Miles and Tessa forward before following them towards the clinic. Ofelia glares at them as they enter the clinic.
——Cut To——
Inside the clinic, Sage is laying on one of the beds as Emmalina finishes setting him up on an IV. Miles and Tessa walk in with Zelma and Chance right behind them.
TESSA: How is he?
EMMALINA: He’s dehydrated. I have him set up on an IV and will monitor his progress.
MILES: Is he going to be ok?
EMMALINA: Yes, but he needs rest.
ZELMA: Thank you, doctor. Now could you also check these two out?
MILES: I’m fine.
ZELMA: Good, then it won’t be an issue. Take a seat.
Miles walks over and sits down on the bed next to Sage and watches him. Tessa sits down next to him and struggles to hold back tears.
MILES: He’s going to be ok.
TESSA: I’m so glad we made it here in time.
Miles continues to watch Sage until he feels a hand intertwines with his. He looks down and up to realize Tessa has a hold of his hand while still looking at Sage. He gently pulls away from her hand and gets up.
TESSA: Where are you going?
MILES: You need to get checked out.
CHANCE: Come with us, we’ll get you something to eat.
MILES: I’m alright.
Zelma gives him a stern look which causes him to reluctantly follow her towards the exit. He stops just before leaving and looks between Sage and Tessa. She sits on the bed and turns to face him, a thankful smile comes across her face. He turns and exits the clinic.

Walking down a road, Kevin walks behind Krista and Danielle when he spots a lone house a bit back from the road. As he walks towards it, Krista and Danielle turn and follow him. Kevin walks up the porch steps and heads inside alone with his gun at the ready. Once Krista and Danielle make it to the porch, he returns from inside.
DANIELLE: What are you doing going in there alone?
KRISTA: Kevin, next time wait for us.
KEVIN: I can take care of myself.
KRISTA: That’s beside the point.
KEVIN: No, it is the point.
The two women look at him questioningly.
KEVIN: Before Stacey died she taught me a lot. She was my person. Now…now that she’s gone…I don’t know what my purpose is anymore.
Krista goes up to Kevin and pulls him into a hug as he struggles to fight back tears.
KRISTA: Don’t talk like that.
KEVIN: It’s the truth.
He pulls away and wipes away his tears.
KEVIN: I need to figure some things out. On my own.
DANIELLE: What?
KRISTA: Kevin, what are you talking about?
KEVIN: All my life I’ve always been Stacey’s little brother. I’ve struggled with making friends and finding my place in the world. Now that she’s gone…I have to find out who I am. I have to find my purpose. I know we were supposed to go to Revco, but I can’t do it. I can’t go to some community where there will be unknown things keeping me from figuring out who I am.
The two women exchange a look of concern.
DANIELLE: Look, kid…
KEVIN: I’m not a kid.
DANIELLE: Ok, brat, you’re not going off on your own and that’s final.
KEVIN: You aren’t in charge of me.
DANIELLE: I don’t care! You’re not going to go wander off on some suicide quest to find yourself.
Kevin lets out a sigh and Krista watches him intently.
KRISTA: Kevin.
He looks at her with a tired expression.
KEVIN: Please. Just let me go.
After a few moments of silence, Krista pulls him into another hug and lets out a tear.
KRISTA: You know where we will be if you change your mind.
KEVIN: I know. Thank you.
She pulls back and starts to walk away. Danielle looks between them in anger.
DANIELLE: What!? No! We’re not leaving him alone, Krista!
KRISTA: It’s what he wants. It’s what he needs.
DANIELLE: To hell with what he thinks he needs!
KRISTA: Danielle.
DANIELLE: No! We’ve lost too many already. We can’t just…
She turns and looks at Kevin as they both fight back tears.
KEVIN: I’ll be ok. I promise. I’m not the same kid you had to save back at the cabin.
She lets out a defeated sigh before running up the stairs to pull him into a hug. The two of them begin to cry but pull apart after a moment. Krista watches and wipes away tears. Danielle walks down towards Krista and the two of them look back at Kevin. He slightly smiles and waves them goodbye. The wave back before turning and heading back towards the road and out of sight.
