The tributes rise up into the arena, expecting to see the sun, the blue sky. They are instead met with darkness. The arena sky is black with a handful of stars and a unnaturally large moon, but most of the light does not come from the moon but instead the many trees and plants around them. They have obviously been modified by the Capitol. They glow a variety of colours, greens, purples, oranges, creating a mix of neon lights that bounce of the golden slick sides of the cornucopia.
“Let the 11th Annual Hunger Games begin!”
The announcement snaps most of the tributes out of their daze.
Ripper and Terrance, who agreed to stick in a alliance with the tributes from 11 and 10, stand side by side on their pedestals. They scan the bounty of supplies that will provide the tributes life for the coming days.
Ripper looks at Terrance who subtly points to a cluster os sharp spears that are only a few feet from where they stand, Ripper nods in agreement.
“40, 39, 38”
Tiberia has her eyes focused on a backpack and knife, knowing that the longer she stays in the bloodbath the greater chance she has at dying.
“30, 29, 28, 27”
Amphere weighs his options on the bloodbath. He originally planned to just flee but upon seeing the unique arena he wonders if there will be any food or water that will be edible. If not then gathering food and water at the bloodbath would be imperil.
“15, 14, 13, 12”
All the careers seem ready and even excited as the countdown reaches closer to 0.
“5....4.....3.....2.....1.....”
The gong suddenly sounds and the tributes leap off their pedestals.
Penny, Batik, and Millet bolt in the opposite direction, running towards the beautifully glowing plants and trees, vanishing into the thick brush.
Mintly bolts for the bounty of supplies when Aelia grabs Mintly from behind, throwing her onto the ground. Mintly thrusts her foot towards Aelia, hoping to kick the career to the ground but Aelia easily catches her foot. Aelia twists her foot, sending popping sounds into the air, causing Mintly to scream out in pain. Her only reaction now is to flee, to get away. Mintly digs her fingers into the soft ground and begins to scurry away but Aelia slams her foot into Mintly's chest, knocking the air out of her. Aelia reaches down, grabbing Mintly by the head and with a quick jerk to the side.
SNAP
BOOM!
Tiberia grabs the backpack and looks to her side for the knife only to see it is gone. From the corner o her eye she catches Cedric, he boy from 7, lunge at her. She doesn't have time to react, she knows it too, tensing her body up she weights for the feeling of the knife that Cedric surely has to meet her body.
THUD
Hearing the sound Tiberia looks over to see Ductor has tackled Cedric to the ground, the two males now wrestling on the ground for the knife. Ductor looks at Tiberia.
“Run!” He screams.
Tiberia hesitates but bolts away.
Terrance, Ripper, Thuckle, and Zebadiah gather in a group as they begin to grab backpacks, weapons, and other items to help them survive. Terrance grabs a water bottle of the ground and looks up at Ripper.
“Place it in your backp-”
A arrow suddenly rips threw Terrance's neck, sending blood splattering on Ripper's face.
Ripper screams in shock as Terrance stumbles forward, gurgling as blood begins to fill his lungs and pour from his neck. The boy collapses on the ground.
BOOM!
Ripper looks up to see Hermaya with a bow, she lets another arrow fly.
“Watch out!” Zebadiah screams as he throws Ripper out of the way, the arrow grazing past his bicep and opening a gash in the side.
Hermaya loads another arrow when Statica suddenly lunges for Hermaya, sword in hand. Hermayay quickly dodges the attack, throwing Statica into a crate.
Zebadiah sees the fight break out and knows they need to run.
“Now is our chance, go, run!” He yells as he helps Ripper up.
Ripper, Thuckle, and Zebadiah flee from the cornucopia.
“No! No please!” Angora screams as she crawls on the ground. Aelia stands over Angora, holding a large sickle.
Aelia almost laughs as she raises the sickle above Angora, without warning, Juniper grabs Aelia from behind, throwing the girl onto the ground.
Aelia goes to stand up but Juniper slams her heavy boot into Aelia's face. Juniper lifts her foot back up and stomps on Aelia's face again, this time hearing a cracking sound. Again she stomps, Aelia now thrashes around like she is having a seizure. Aelia slams her foot down on Aelia's head again.
BOOM!
Angora stand up, bolting away. Cedric suddenly grabs her though, slamming his knife threw her neck. Angora screams as she feels the cold steel rip threw her flesh, feeling the warm blood pour down her neck and soak her clothes.
Cedric throws the girl down, going off to gather more items, leaving Angora to hold her neck as blood pours from the wound.
BOOM!
Zant runs out of the bloodbath after gathering a few items. He looks for the trees when he sees something from the corner of his eyes. He leaps back, the sword just narrowly missing him.
Galus grips the sword as he swings at Zant again, Zant leaps to the side, his legs hitting one of the crates and he falls forward. Slamming into the ground. He looks up to see Galus towering over him with the sword.
Galus raises the sword when suddenly Amphere makes a run for it, after hiding in the cornucopia for awhile, waiting for a chance to escape. He bolts but Galus swings his sword down, curving it away from Zant and slashing Amphere in the back.
Amphere screams as he falls onto the ground, his right arm twitches and moves uncontrollably, the nerves in his arm severed when Galus cut him.
Zant sees his opportunity and stands up, running away from Galus whose attention now turns to Amphere.
“Please, no!” Amphere screams as Galus raises the sword.
Galus sends the sword down on Amphere's head.
BOOM!
Most of the tributes have cleared the area, only a handful left to gather supplies or fight amoung each other for what is left.
Pollock rummages threw the crates to see what supplies there is left as his allies fight off any other tributes who are left. He opens a crate to see a flamethrower.
“That is what I am talking about,” He smiles as he goes to grab it.
As his hand reaches for the weapon a sickle swings down, slicing his left hand off at the wrist.
“AAAAA!” Pollock screams as he grabs his arm, blood squirting out of the gaping wound.
Juniper grips the sickle as she walks towards him, Pollock backing up. He grabs the kukri in his belt and holds it, ready to defend himself.
Pollock lunges forward, he swings at Juniper but she side steps, dodging the attack. Pollock quickly turns, he lunges with the blade again but Juniper slashes into his shoulder with her sickle. Pollock screams as he grabs his wound.
Juniper slams her foot into his chest, sending him flying backwards, he lands on the ground with a loud THUD. She walks over, raising the sickle. Pollock lets out a scream as she sends it down, stabbing him in the chest.
BOOM!
Ashenia runs into the woods from the bloodbath. She looks behind her to make sure no one is following her when she suddenly feels pain in her gut. Her knees instantly buckle and she struggles to even stand. Ashenia looks in front of her to see Cedric standing there, a shocked look on his face.
“Cedric?” Ashenia coughs out, looking at her district partner.
Cedric looks down, seeing the knife deep into Ashenia's stomach. He yanks it out. His hands shake as tears begin to fill his eyes.
Ashenia goes to take a step but her legs give and she falls, Cedric quickly catches her and kneels down. He holds Ashenia.
“I am so sorry, I'm-I'm....Please, no. I'm so sorry” Cedric presses on Ashenia's wound to stop the bleeding.
Ashenia lays on the soft ground, struggling to breath, gasping for air.
“Am I dying?” Ashenia chokes out.
“No,no, no, you aren't. You are going to be ok.” Cedric cries.
“You......You promise?” Ashenia asks.
Cedric hesitates for a moment, already her lips are loosing their colour. Sweat beads on her forehead, her hair already starting to get soaked in it.
“Yes.”
“Cause I don't wanna die,” Ashenia whimpers, “Please don't let me.”
“No, I won't. You are going to be ok.”
“I'm going to be ok....”
“Yea,” Cedric forces a smile as he brushes Ashenia's wet hair from her face.
“I'm....I'm so s-s-scared” Ashenia whimpers.
“There is nothing to be afraid of, you are going -”
BOOM!
Cedric suddenly stops, he looks at Ashenia who lays their motionless. The quiet wheezing sound of her breathing having stopped.
“Ashenia,” Cedric says, pausing only for a moment. “Ashenia! Ash! No! Ash, wake up! Come on Ash, please!” Cedric shakes Ashenia's body as he cries, screaming for her to come back.
The anthem plays as the seal appears in the sky:
