🇲🇲 Myanmar Overview 🇲🇲

Previous Overview: https://tengaged.com/blog/bigben1996/9203130/original-all-stars-overview

Welcome to Survivor Myanmar!  This is the seventh season of the BigBen Survivor franchise.  This season featured sixteen new castaways competing yet again for the title of Sole Survivor.  I believe this season was the first to have really late drops as AJ (zorbo678) and Easton (Notsae) were both not originally on the cast due to Katherine (KatherineOliver) and Matt (mrcool) having to drop out last minute without warning.  Due to FireDragon (AlaskanFireDragon) winning Survivor Philippines – All Stars… aiwfwyattroh got to decide this season’s twist which was known as the “Silent Auction” which would eventually be featured on Survivor China – Clash of Clans.  The “Silent Auction” is what it sounds like where at the beginning of the game  all of the castaways were given money to bid on items that could help their games.

PreMerge
-----------
Looking back on my previous notions.  I did state this season was relatively bad despite this cast on paper looking solid.  There is a lot of old schoolers on the cast and some people who do not typically play group games.  Overall, I am hoping the rewatch proves to be more of a second chance as the winner is bad.  So, taking one step at a time.  Also, I’m going to attempt to cut the overviews down a tad.

Final 16 – Bago wins immunity!  Robby looks to have formed a majority alliance that includes himself, Alan, Easton, Sam, and Easton with his main two being Easton and Sam.  Also, leaving Azri and Ben on the outs relatively early but form a nice dynamic duo to start.  Sam is weary of Wiley due to the fact how quickly he wanted an alliance (looks at new school Survivor).   The entirety of the tribe wants to target Marcus for not participating in the first immunity challenge while Marcus is pushing a Ben boot.  At tribal council, Ben is forced to play his “instant idol” as it is only good for the first tribal he attends and negates a single vote while the other seven votes are for Marcus.  Yangon the only notable thing is Adrianna dominating the challenges early.  Robby also makes his in roads with both Azri and Ben as well.

Final 15 – Bago wins immunity!  Ben realizes he is on the outs of his tribe early after trying to secure a final two deal with Wiley.  Wiley proved to be in Ben’s terms “sketchy” not wanting to suggest names or not even throw out ideas for a potential group of four.  Ben did the same thing with Easton as well.  Ben fully realizes the person that he needs to trust moving forward is Azri.  The alliance of Alan, Easton, Robby, Sam, and Wiley want to vote for Azri as Ben has been more helpful in the challenges.  At tribal council, it was Alan’s self-vote that cost him to leave in a 4-3 vote.  It looks as if the person that flipped was Easton?  It is hard to say but judging the fact that Robby and Wiley both stated in confessional they did not vote Azri makes me believe it was Easton as Sam was close to Alan.  Alan was pretty much a flop self-voting out and might be one of the few people to get themselves voted out.  The Ben and Azri dynamic is fun to watch (mainly Azri) as you’ll see later on with Ben begins to flop a tad.  In other news, Adrianna’s challenge dominance doesn’t go unnoticed and Mel is making final two deals with nearly everyone.

Final 14 – Yangon wins immunity!  There is not a ton of content other than Azri having success in the challenge with him trolling say “Alan’s ghost” would not have helped the tribe get the win.  Dawson gives perspective in the fact that everyone is in an alliance together except for AJ and Eddie.  AJ it made sense as he joined the game late due to circumstances out of his control and Eddie was active.  However, there was also recognition of Dan’s ego who was proving to be a noteworthy character.  At tribal council, the vote was very simple with AJ leaving in a 6-1-1 vote.  I am pretty sure Brendon voted for Dan which causes him to mutiny next round and AJ voted Brendon with other six doing AJ.  It’s hard not having the voting charts anymore but regardless this vote was more or less important.  Mel still looks to be the ruler of the tribe.

Final 13 – Yangon wins immunity and Brendon mutinies! Looking back at the viewer’s lounge it seemed Brendon made the right move mutinying as he was next on the chopping block.  Azri pushes for an active five alliance on Yangon between himself, Ben, Robby, Sam, and Wiley leaving Brendon and now Easton (inactive) at this stage on the outs.  In other news, mass chaos arises on Bago with Rick pushing hard to get Mel out then telling everyone he has the numbers (not agreed upon).  This led to everyone throwing him under the bus to Mel which shows how strong a game Mel was playing while how awful Rick was doing trying to convince people to vote his way.  Mel does not trust Adrianna despite the fact she threw him under first.  Dan and Dawson become extremely close to a dynamic duo extent on Dan’s end.  Dawson is probably annoyed by him still but knows Dan is an ally.  At tribal council, Mel decided to play her hidden immunity idol which she found the day before on herself negating one vote from Rick.  Eddie self-voted and Rick received four votes from the rest of the tribe.  Rick had a mental collapse here after Mel played her idol despite receiving a majority of the votes saying a very famous quote.

Yangon *Maroon Buffs*

Adrianna S./Saftronbtr999
Azri Z./subfriend
Brendon R./brenelle1120
Eddie H./Dolphinz811
Robby J./Robbyjak
Wiley C./wileycoyote

Swap Dynamics – NuBago has two original members with Ben, Easton, and Sam versus Dan, Dawson, Mel.  Dan and Dawson are a pair and Mel and Sam are a pair.  NuYangon there are three original Bago members Azri, Robby, and Wiley.  There are also three original Yangon members Adrianna, Brendon, and Eddie.  However, Brendon did mutiny to Bago so maybe he becomes an honorary Bago member.

Final 12 – Bago wins immunity!  There is yet again not a ton of content for this episode other than the public display of annoyance or rivalry between Adrianna and Brendon.  Robby found the hidden immunity idol on Bago beach before the swap.  At tribal council it looked as if it would be Adrianna vs. Brendon, but Eddie seemed be a good middle person to vote out on the grounds he was not causing chaos.  Adrianna, Brendon, Robby, and Wiley voted for Eddie (Brendon could not get the numbers to do Adrianna).  Eddie voted Adrianna and Adrianna did Brendon.  Azri did Brendon to likely cause drama between Adrianna and Brendon.  Either way, it seems like the NuBago wanted to create more distrust in hopes to get back the numbers while also keeping a rivalry in between Adrianna and Brendon.  Brendon says for the second time in a row he wants to “quit” but production tells him no.  I think Adrianna is probably next on this tribe or it is a tossup between her and Brendon.

Final 11 – Yangon wins immunity!  Immediately, Dan springs into action wanting to take out Mel who is controlling too much what is going on around camp.  The plan was for Ben, Dan, Dawson, and I believe Easton to vote for Mel.  Mel and Sam become immediately close on this tribe whether it is cause of feeling on the outs or preexisting.  Regardless, they’re a dynamic duo.  Apparently, Dan talked way too much and was being extremely sketchy to the point he blew his own spot up.  Ben who had previous beef with Mel put that aside cause of Dan’s chaotic nature and decided to link up with Mel and Sam.  I am confident that Easton voted Mel looking back as maybe Ben could not get back to him in time about the potential switch in the plan.  At tribal council, Mel played yet another hidden immunity idol (probably tribe rehidden one) negating two votes while the other four went to Dan.  Dan sent some memorable confessionals and was an extremely interesting character looking back.  He was just lacking in the gameplay and patience department.  Dawson looks for new hope with the merge happening next.

Merge
-------
Final 10 – Sam wins immunity! Immediately, this vote becomes centered around getting Adrianna out as the strongest physical player in the entire cast.  It seemed Mel had her sights on her, and it was “my way or the highway strategy” with Mel and Brendon unwilling to back down.  Adrianna and Dawson seem to be on the outs of what is going on for the current moment.  Ben who managed to get the vote off himself by patching things up with Mel to let Dan self-destruct is in a better position now with Azri as they have the potential to make a move.  Brendon is pretending to be a Mel sheep and waiting for his time to strike.  I think the thing to watch is Mel & Sam creating their eventual coalition.  It seems as if things are currently blurry as everyone is trying to keep a façade to Mel but only time will tell the eventual alliances as the swaps had an impact. Adrianna tried making a big push for Mel and I think the move would have been beneficial to Azri, Ben, and Dawson.  However, I suspect the numbers were not there to flip the script leading to Adrianna leaving unanimously.  I think this will prove later to be a mistake to the Wiley’s of the world with Robby close to Mel who is after him. Also, Mel had a lot more power in the game then Adrianna.  Sadly, Adrianna is not on the jury despite their strong impact early on but becomes the first unanimous merge boot.

Final 9 – Wiley wins immunity!  This is arguably the most important vote of the game.  You had the big alpha players in Mel, Sam, Robby, and Dawson on one side with Easton, Ben, Azri, Brendan on the other leaving Wiley squared in the middle.  You would think Wiley’s best interest would be to go against the Mel side due to Robby coming after him hard core.  The Ben side of things did not view Mel as the leader but instead looked at Sam as the potential social glue keeping that side together.  Sam out of the picture could free up Robby was probably the mindset for Azri and Ben.  At tribal council, the two armies went to war with Ben self-voting, so he did not have to get blood on his hands (supposedly).  Wiley flipped on the alliance of Azri, Ben, Brendan, and Easton which can be viewed as extremely questionable.  Easton was viewed as clueless and looking back I do not get why Wiley voted him out as they were a final two.  Maybe, Easton’s inactivity or Wiley saw the opportunity to get himself out of a potential fifth place position.  Either way, the move was questionable at best.  The vote was 5-3-1 with Dawson, Mel, Robby, Sam, and Wiley holding the majority.  We will see if this was a #MissedOpportunity   Also, Azri vs Mel now becomes a thing Azri betrayed his final five alliance with the crew that voted Easton minus Wiley.

Final 8 – Mel wins immunity!  There actually is some content for this tribal.  The majority officially realizes that they cannot trust Azri or Brendon leaving them on the outs with Ben.  Robby is annoyed at the fact he warned the majority that they could not trust Brendon, but Mel was insistent and realized she was wrong.  She also went to Azri saying “you’re either my friend or my enemy” choose wisely…  Robby seemed like a sensible boot for the other side as he was close to Azri and Ben and did not vote with them the previous tribal.  Not to mention, it sounded like Sam was pitting Brendon against Robby.  At tribal council, Ben self-voted yet again which now in BigBen Survivor terms means you are medically evacuated.  I am pretty sure the majority of Mel, Sam, Wiley, and Robby voted for Brendon.  Azri, voted for Wiley.  That leaves Brendon and Dawson voting Robby, but I have to fact check here.  Azri voted Wiley to gain trust with Mel which is crazy judging it should not matter at this stage judging there is a core four right now that he does not have the connections with moving forward.  It seems as if Azri and Ben are off to fight on their own against the fearsome five.  This upcoming round should be primarily focused on what are Dawson, Robby, and Wiley going to do.  Will the pairs of Mel/Sam & Azri/Ben call a temporary seize fire?

Final 7 – Robby wins immunity!  This is where the game becomes a lot more interesting.  Robby has two idols in his pocket at this stage while Azri claims he still has an idol in his possession (pretty sure he was bluffing).  Azri/Ben really want to blindside Mel for being the leader of the majority alliance.  On the other side, Wiley wants to get rid of Dawson for being way too close to Mel and that goes the same for Robby.  Ben brings up a safe vote to Azri to vote Wiley as it keeps them here another day but keeps the other core four intact.  It could be a mutual settlement for the duos along with Dawson as the fifth wheel.  Robby is looking to squeeze his way into the middle as he is becoming extremely aware that Sam is becoming way too big a threat in the home stretch.  Sam also begins his march to the end by planning to go with Ben and Mel to the finals as both would take him to the end (probably true).  At tribal council, it looked as if everyone came to a mutual understanding besides Azri to vote for Wiley.  I think Azri did it out of annoyance because Ben had been dead for the past two rounds and was on the verge of being evacuated.  Anyways, it looks to be the core four versus Azri/Ben with Azri as the bigger target in the minority.  The question is… will Robby make his move or something unexpected about to happen?

Final 6 – Ben wins immunity!  It is a miracle that the nearly evacuated flop wins a challenge.  Now, the attention of a potential split vote is off the table between himself and Azri.  This means the vote is Robby’s decision at first glance as he could play an idol for Azri in hopes he can get out his target in Sam as opposed to Mel.  The Dawson, Mel, and Sam coalition looks to be a strong three which is surprising judging that I thought Dawson broke off earlier from them or he’s just bidding his time till he can strike right before the end.  Robby tells the majority he has both idols as a threat to ensure they do not vote for him and intends to use them on himself for both final six and final five.  At tribal council, Robby plays the idol on Azri negating three votes.  However, the biggest shift of the season takes place as Azri and Ben go rogue and vote for Mel instead of Sam as Robby wanted.  I think Azri/Ben minds if Mel is gone maybe they have a better shot of keeping Dawson with them to vote out Sam next.  Either way, I think Robby is annoyed but still has an idol in his pocket.  The main question is now?  Who is going home next if Robby is locked into the final four?

Final 5 – Dawson wins immunity!  This is a unique as nobody has won more than one immunity challenge entering finale night.  Currently, the vote looks to be up in the air as there is plenty of chatter regarding who is going home between the four.  Robby is playing the idol on himself securing his spot in the final four.  Azri and Ben want to target Sam as he is the biggest threat to win at this stage of the game.  Dawson and Sam seemed indifferent who needs to leave but looked to be leaning towards Azri as he was the bigger threat to win.  Robby wanted Ben gone because of his challenge abilities as opposed to Azri.   At tribal council, it ended in a 2-2-1 tie.  Dawson/Sam voted for Azri, Azri/Ben voted for Sam, and Robby voted for Ben.  Anyways… Robby is the swing vote here in keeping a close pair or take his chances if he lost immunity, he could convince people to vote out Sam.  On the revote… Azri was voted out 2-1.

Finale
-------
Final 4 – Dawson wins immunity!  This is proving to be a late run by Dawson as he tries to garner some respect from this jury after sticking with the power players a bit too long for his own liking.  The final four all have their different agendas to my knowledge.  I think Robby wanted to vote for Ben in hopes that he just needed to survive another day with his core after Ben proved himself in the challenges already over Sam.  Ben wanted to vote for Sam as he was the biggest threat to win.  Sam wanted to vote Robby as he wanted a better shot at final immunity.  In the end, this really was a Dawson decision arguably a tough one.  In the end, he voted out Robby in a chaotic 2-1-1 vote sending arguably the toughest competitor to Ponderosa.  Now it becomes a battle of can the newly formed final two of Ben and Dawson.

Final 3 – Ben wins final immunity!  There is not a ton of thought that goes into this.  Sam is the biggest threat to win and Dawson is viewed as too much of a sheep to potentially not get enough traction from this jury.  Ben’s sole vote was to kill Sam who did a fantastic job on the social front all season.  We have one original Bago and Yangon in the final two.

Final Tribal
--------------
I think this is arguably the weakest “Final Tribal” of the second generation.  Ben and Dawson were pretty much claimed as the individuals least deserving to win but managed to get to the end together knowing this had to be the end game for equal footing.  Ben had a good story working from the bottom of his tribe and basically the entirety of the game.  However, self-voting as a strategy for me at least is a “big no” and I think that is the only reason he got as far as he did for being perceived as a goat who had game awareness.  Dawson had game awareness but stayed with the power players a bit too long, so the jury perceived him as a sheep who let others do the dirty work.  Dawson had also made some false claims at “Final Tribal” which would cost him at the end of the day as the duo of Mel/Sam proved to be the swing votes on this jury.  Either it is safe to say this was the “Battle of the Goats” where either outcome was unfortunate but that’s the game.  I was rooting for Dawson though after reading this because I felt he used his connections the best he could while still being sly.  I think the jury selected Ben to win based on his “Final Tribal” and stroking some of the jurors egos but at the same time was articulating himself a better manner than Dawson who didn’t have a ton of experience in group games.  Either way, Ben is a really weird winner and quite frankly one that I can’t outright respect because of the self-votes as that’s just asking the hosting to hate you (openly admitted to doing it so he wouldn’t get blood on his hands).

Final Synopsis
-----------------
I think the season itself was alright.  There was some interesting moments and some decent characters that eventually came into the fold.  However, the season was not very good judging the last minute drops out and ranging to winner nearly being medically evacuated as a strategy.  It gives me a bad taste in my mouth as a host.  Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the final six (even Ben sometimes) as they played the game the hardest.  However, it is a bitter pill to swallow when arguably the most memorable person who returned to future season’s was the tenth place who was unanimously voted out (no shade to Adrianna).  This wasn’t a pleasant game to host but more so a weird one at that.
