Everything was going smooth until the outbreak reached the school, and since the school's B.D. is so popular, it was a hot spot for death. Luke was able to save a lot of his students and townspeople by leading them into a classroom and enacted a lock-down drill. Unfortunately, one of the students was bit and started attacking the classroom. A frantic parent opened the door and more zombies poured in. The only thing Luke was able to do is escape through the window. He was able to escape along with a few students until they were overtaken later on. Luke is the only survivor, and all of the guilt from losing all his students weighs heavily on him everyday. This caused him to be aloof with people because he didn't want to get attached and lose them.
