mradamman12 once again came out on top in the previous Sing For Your Life, while we wished iSandeh an unfortunate farewell once again, for good this time. A lot of your submissions have been impressing us lately, but we’re super close to the end so remember to bring us the best of the best! Another reminder that from now on until the end you need to submit TWO songs.
Matt and I are very different people, yin and yang if you will, which makes our friendship work so well. For today’s theme we basically want you to submit “Yin and Yang” songs. Your two submissions will have to compliment each other in some way; for example a heartbreak song/ a love song, making it out of poverty/a song about being rich, etc. It doesn’t have to be these examples, it can be any other complimentary themes as well, be creative! You also need to write a sentence on how your songs compliment each other. You have 24 hours from now to submit, good luck!
The way these two songs complement each other is that, the first song by Evanescence talks about losing a child while the song by Dan and Shay is about expecting one to come to this world. One interesting fact about the first song is that Amy Lee said she could never sing it live because it would break her (and I think not many people, even fans of Evanescence, know about this song).
So for the yin and yang theme I selected the feelings of high and low.
The two songs I selected compliment one another, based on the context of a night out. The first song disco tits is about the start of the night out feeling confident, horny and high as the night progresses. The second song I selected 3am talks about the end of the night out and the mood has shifted from confidence to doubt and insecurity, where she needs reassurance that she is fine even though this happens all the time.
For me these fit the theme well as one song is about... dying for someone, ya know like the vibe of closeness/togetherness with someone and how great that person is...
and one is about losing someone, aka the opposite of that last one! :)
This is probably a huge stretch but these songs compliment each other because they talk about dealing with relationships that don’t work out in different ways.
In ‘tears of gold’, she gives too much to people who give nothing back to her. She’s unable to get over the fact that people are not as invested in her relationships as she is. Instead of leaving, she comes back and continues to allow herself to be used and hence finds herself in bad situations.
In ‘burn down this room’, he is also unable to get over his relationship but instead of running back to it, he takes matters into his own hands and makes sure that he leaves with a bang. He’s not going to go quietly and if he can ruin the other person too while leaving, he’s going to do so and hence the title of the song.
In “lovely”, they’re singing about a bad relationship, and how even after all this time they’re still sad. They’ve become accustomed to the emptiness left from this relationship. It’s a sad and almost depressive song.
In “smile”, she’s talking about how she’s with someone that really just loves her, and makes her smile. It’s something good for both people in this relationship as they make each other happy. This song is genuinely a bop and it makes me happy listening!
