Three of you were sent to battle it out in this Sing For Your Life but only ONE of you will be moving on tonight.
mbarnish1, Admir, & iSandeh, you had all received the lowest scores in one of the greatest rounds we’ve had so far. As you three know, there was a lot more at stake tonight because this is a DOUBLE elimination. You were asked to submit a song of personal choice to wow us one last time in this special ‘Sing For Your Life’. Your songs all varied in genre and uniqueness and it really just boiled down to what stood out the most for us. So without further ado, here’s what we thought of your submissions..
Admir - Comatose (Skillet)
M: This was a RISK for a tengaged.com music game, but for me you hit. I am a fan of this type of music from the 2000s era and I could see this being featured in a sports video game or a video package for wrestling, both of which I am a big fan of! The lyrics were really corny, but I really enjoyed the rest of the song. Nice pick!
K: Well duh I’m an emo at heart. Any head banging music is a pass in my books. I really enjoyed this song but I think I’d only play it on rare occasions in my freetime. This isn’t exactly my favorite type of music within that respective genre typically I go for more upbeat headbangers and less I hate my mom and the world type lyrics. This song perfectly captures the era it was released in though so overall a good pick!!
mbarnish1 - Hotel California (Eagles)
M: This song is always a wild ride. Actually looking into the lyrics and their meaning was interesting, I never really knew what the song was about before because it’s so mysterious. But I think it can still be interpreted many ways which is something I like about it. Also isn’t this the song where if you play it backwards it has some hidden dark message or something LOL? Anyways, the song itself is also dark IMO, and hides that darkness with its catchiness and fun instrumentals. I think I would give this a higher rating if I hadn’t heard it 20 million times, but nonetheless it’s a good song and is a real brain fuck which I find fun.
K: This song sounds super familiar and I’ve definitely heard it a million times but it’s never stuck. I definitely do like how chill it is but like Matt said, it’s been super overplayed in the past which kind of kills the vibe of it. The lyrics are also interesting, I like how it’s not just a lo-fi song about nothing, it has meaning. It does get a bit repetitive after a while but it is a good song there’s no arguing that. I just do have beef with music that’s over 5 minutes but good pick!
iSandeh - Pound the Alarm (Nicki Minaj)
M: I feel like I’ve heard this before and the chorus sounds familiar but the rest doesn’t so idk. Speaking of, I really liked the chorus of this. It’s super fun and gets ya going. The rest was sorta meh, I think Nicki has much better in terms of rap. That being said, this is a really good hype song and definitely would get a party going. Also the beginning sounded like a Nintendo theme song which I found really cool. Nice pick.
K: This is on my throwbacks playlist I don’t even care I love this song. Imo this is one of Nicki’s best “old school”/party/dance songs. It is basic and has no meaning but like when you’re 5 vodka lemonades deep at a club this is exactly the song you want to hear it just makes sense. I also weirdly love the rave sounding parts in this song but typically don’t like rave music. Personally I love this song so great choice.

. Admir! Congratulations, your submission in this elimination was a rather unique choice and peaked both of our interests with a genre we like. This means unfortunately for the both of you iSandeh & mbarnish1 we will be parting ways tonight (for now!). You both had great submissions which made this more difficult to judge there’s no doubt about that.
