Uber is actually a very responsible company.
You can share your live locations and the rating system is very good
Tbh i think it safer than just getting a cab from the street.
So knowing multiple Uber employees and using it myself, here are some notes:
1- The driver cannot change the destination or pick up point. Only the passenger can. The driver can ask the passenger to, especially in cases where the pick up point is inaccessible.
2- Drivers can get penalised for going off route even if it ends up being faster or avoiding traffic.
3- The number plate probably didn't match and the charge was very likely the cancellation fee after the 8 minute wait time.
As a female, yes, there are some creepy and weird drivers out there. But that's a bit off. 🤔
