Study on Castings

1stOct 23, 2017 by _Adidas_
In all castings I have played, I have never been nominated. I have always reached final day and placed 1st-4th.
I have now  played enough Castings to know this:
-You need at least 1 key to win
-The highest checks (amongst those with keys) wins the game
-Check your time. If you have 150 seconds, it means you are in first place. When there are 2 nominees the time changes to 130s for first place
-Negging does NOT hurt you. I have negged a lot in active castings in order to get that first place slot and won.

I finally played a casting where I did not receive a key, but still had the most time and checks overall. You only need 1 key to win.

EDIT: OK THIS IS RIGAMORRIS How are all these cunts winning casting w/o a key and I loose when I had the highest scores, most checks and was the only one with 100% Carlos explain to me this

how did that noob get 2nd!?!? just because key he didn't play half comps or talk
Sent by Wade03,Oct 23, 2017
Wade03 LMAO RIGHT Im glad I came to this conclusion and justified my thesis :)
Sent by _Adidas_,Oct 23, 2017
Yeah I had 110 seconds last day.
Sent by Insanity17,Oct 23, 2017
yeah basically
Sent by Mexus,Oct 23, 2017
then how come one time I got 2nd in a casting even though I had the most checks? but the person who won was getting better comp scores _Adidas_
Sent by ParvatiS,Oct 23, 2017
that person probably had more checks than you, maybe lied
Competitions only are good to determine who to nominate in case stats are relatively similar

"Negging does NOT hurt you. I have negged a lot in active castings in order to get that first place slot and won."

I'm just gonna warn you right now _Adidas_, if we are ever in Castings together and you even try negging me, you WILL get negged back because that's one thing I do not put up with in Castings.

But the rest of what you say seems fair enough.  I have however noticed your health won't go up so fast if you do neg, and your checks also won't go up as fast as they should.
Sent by Icarus_Mark,Oct 23, 2017
Icarus_mark LOL i dont make it obvious though, I probably would selective plus and I hardly do it anymore since I make sure I get to 1st by just making sure I post more and get more pluses
Sent by _Adidas_,Oct 23, 2017
_Adidas_  haha  I've done the same thing
Sent by Icarus_Mark,Oct 23, 2017
I have won a castings without a key
Sent by Lemjam6,Oct 24, 2017
i just won a casting and had the least of the checks in the final 3

You know back in the day, the algo rewarded you for evenly plussing and negging. If you kept your plus:neg ratio even and was also being plussed yourself, you would do well.
There may still be a hint of that left in the but to add a bit more - you would be punished/nominated for plussing/negging all. 馃槀

*left in the code

I agree with everything except these two. I've seen the highest checks lose if they aren't great at challenges. and I'm pretty sure time is based on your activity the previous day, not the placement you're in
Sent by woeisme,Oct 24, 2017
I've won without a key before 馃挭馃徎
Sent by macken,Oct 24, 2017
I got the only key in this game but only got 2nd

Sent by cutetoy,Oct 24, 2017
woeisme  Nah, the time in challenges is based on placement in checks.  I know because I've played enough Castings and seen enough people reveal their time and checks to know this.  But the other one you don't agree with I have to say you are right on.  There has been games I have won where I did not have the most checks and someone who did the highest checks also had keys.
Sent by Icarus_Mark,Oct 24, 2017
All I know is I got a higher placing with no key and 0 in deal .....than someone with a key ????
Sent by Minniemax,Oct 24, 2017
Keys not necessary
Sent by lionsden121,Oct 24, 2017
30% Keys
30% Comps Scores
30% Checks
10% Secret Sauce

This is literally what rando has said.

As to what the "Secret sauce" is. It's probably randomization in the algorithm.
So you could have 4% more checks, and 4% better comp scores as person B, with an even amount of keys as person B, and still get second to person B by 2%. That's why I believe you sometimes can get second, even when you did objectively better.

As a side note:
Health has nothing to do with winning. It never has. Idk who thinks this, who told them this or why they think it. As far as anything has been proven to me, health is function through which you die. Nothing more, nothing less.
Sent by Zedd,Oct 24, 2017
zedd i guess that hasnt happened to me, whenever i win ots because i had the most check, whenever i get 2nd or 3rd it's because I didn't have as much checks as the rest
Sent by _Adidas_,Oct 24, 2017
Tbh I鈥檓 pretty sure if you win all the comps and the most check
You鈥檒l still win without the key
Sent by RiDsTeR,Oct 24, 2017
_Adidas_

In order to get a real idea of whats actually going on, you'd need to like keep spreadsheets of comp scores. Because they matter just as much as checks and keys.
Sent by Zedd,Oct 24, 2017
ridster I thought so too but I just got 3rd and I didn't even neg in this game
Sent by _Adidas_,Oct 24, 2017
I've only won once when i didn't have a key, but it did happen
Sent by SmoothStalker12,Oct 24, 2017
we need a pie chart
Sent by Moonfelar,Oct 24, 2017
Your time for the challenges is based off of the activity the game day before not your entire placement in the game
Sent by sjsoccer88,Oct 24, 2017
ive never been nominated in one either XD. have played way less than you tho
Sent by colehausman271,Oct 24, 2017
What does the challenge do?
Sent by Moonfelar,Oct 24, 2017
I'd just like to point out that it is in fact possible to win even if you're nommed for 5th, as people dont typically know this
