zu's final take: i love a good swan song! altho i dont really listen to this kind of music much, i wanted to do singsong saturday so id be more exposed to all kinds of genres! i really did go into this with an open mind. with that said, every song had a lot of depth lyrically, but sonically some of them were tedious or hard to listen to. at the same time, there were tracks like circles that were slow but still kept me hooked! and ofc that is my favorite song off this album, not to be boring picking the title track as my fav but oh well. i appreciate that mac had such a unique sound! rest in peace queenie <3
KC’s takesies : i didn’t DISLIKE it, but it just wasn’t my vibe! even the songs i rated negatively its moreso just not for me than me thinking they were bad. I would probably never relisten, but I like Mac, he was cool. Never forget. He lives on through his art 😔😭✌️😇🙏
It's interesting how much his music changed from album to album. Even with Swimming and Circles you can see a complete lyrical and sound shift, despite them being two parts of a much larger album. I really liked Self Care & Hurt Feelings on Swimming, but there wasn't any particular song on Circles that stood out to me.
