As always, we are available for clarification questions :) for the final time…GOOD LUCK! :)
Cover: So what I realized when trying to pick a cover is that a good cover must satisfy these two things.
It must have a good, aesthetic sound that differs from the original.
It must take whatever is a weakness of a song and make it better.
The cover I picked was Boyce Avenue’s cover of In Case You Didn’t Know by Brett Young
I think this song satisfies both requirements by having amazing acoustics as well as fixes the voice problem that appeared in the original. This song is lyrically and musically beautiful, so I really hope the cover does it justice.
Champion Song: This was definitely the hardest submission and took me the most time. I spent days trying to figure out something. I think what constitutes a champion is someone who figures themselves out in order to achieve the end-goal. This song definitely focuses more about the self-realization and also the anticipation of being victorious in the greatest battle of life. It’s definitely one of my more out-there concepts which didn’t work out for me last time (throwback to Castles 🥶).
for King & Country - joy.
Riddle: What is the one thing designed to keep you together, but always results in you losing yourself?
Cover: The Wolf - CG5 (ft. Cami-Cat & Family Jules) [Original: SIAMÉS)
I chose this cover of the song as it improved on what you've said about it in the past. The instrumentals were great, which was something the cover artists kept relatively true to the original with some changes in pacing. However, you specifically wanted something more from the original male singer and this is exactly it. The chorus was bumped an octave higher and there were more harmonizations that really improved on the quality of the song, while still keeping it true to the vibe of the original song.
Championship: This Is Me - The Greatest Showman
I have been the oddball all my life (being shorter than everyone, being the youngest in every friend group, having a weird, rather unrelatable personality,...) and I've been made fun of all the time (even got bullied for being one). So every time I accomplished something, this was me really showing myself to everyone that I was capable of the same things any normal person would (made a 3-pointer once that got the crowd going). And this song is just powerful in its own right and it really tells my story well.
Riddle: 14 and 22, yellow fading into blue, what's supposed to mine is belonging to you.
So I really love this song that I submitted and I actually never looked for a cover of it. This cover features a male background voice and I thought it brought something different to the song from the original. Andie's voice is also amazing and really stands up to Kat's powerful voice from the original song. This submission is just me being obsessed with this song. Only complaint is she doesn't hit the hard fuck like Kat does LOL.
Theme 2:
I really like this song and felt like I never had a theme to submit it to. It's a bit straight forward but I think it captures my type of victory song. Fast paced, and kind of scream singing. When I get amped when I win something I feel like everything should be a scream lmao. I also like the line "all my friends were glorious" because no matter what everyone killed it in this contest.
Theme 3: The more attention you give, the quicker you will drift apart.
OKAY I do see quinn has already been submitted but I kinda just saw him in concern so I really want to use him for a submission and I love this song. Okay bye gl everyone.
