Last round after a close showdown between our battle back winner and our dark horse in the competition, it was ultimately tbrown_47 who’s fight had finally come to an end.
For today’s theme, this is my (Blu)’s theme Vanitysmurf. Noelle Heavenlee will be there to still judge of course.
Theme: OASIS
This round I will be looking for something that provides refuge, relief, pleasant contrast, or an abundance of hope in your song selection. There will only be one song submission needed. Here are two examples I’ve chosen below as my submission that will give you all an idea that no lane is off limits in this round. Use this theme as your own interpretation of any of those examples given.
Stand in Faith- Danny Gokey ( to me its about beliefs and always remaining steadfast in Christ no matter what obstacles, circumstances, or triumphs you may face in life)
A Change is gonna come-Sam Cooke. ( As a POC not only does this song open up gateways of fighting for injustices, it also speaks of unification and solidarity)
I chose Derek Minor ft Urban Resue- Walls. We as a people tend to section ourselves off based on human factors such as race, political views, religion, finances, and cultural differences. This song challenges the “walls” we have put as dividers in our lives, and reminds us that we are all created in the image of a Holy God and thus we should break down the walls and build more bridges..
When I saw the theme featuring an abundance of hope, I couldn’t not pick this song. Not only does it inspire, but also reminds the public to remain optimistic for the future. What I especially like about this song is that throughout most of it, there is tension. This makes the listener “hope” that it gets easier to listen to, but it’s building towards that sweet resolution we get at the end of the song. This is just a reminder that as long as you stay hoping, all of your conflicts will be resolved.
This songs means so much to me because it talks of how much care God has for me , for everyone and it’s brought me comfort in tons of times. This version of the song holds a special place in my heart too. This is one of my favourite bands ever and their love for God is inspiring.
This song is just so sensational. It paints a 1984-esque world, which is where "Big Brother" originated from. Where everyone is expected to conform to a certain standard. This is a call to those people to wake up, find the things that define yourself and rise up to such monotonous normalities. It is really a loud preaching and it wakes up the soul.
