Thank you for your PRIDE TIME submissions. I love when we can all come together with common inspirational theme. This round was delicate. Some of you shined over the rainbow, and some got lost in the storm. With that being said, it is time for the critiques!
#Pekka: Born This Way by Lady Gaga
This was so good! It’s a homestay classic that holds meaning for every queer out there. This was my first real exposure to the community as growing up I was not allowed to hear anything like this. Muslim Parent Problems lmao. So when I finally got out on my own I played this song on continuous loop. Because it made me feel like I was finally discovering myself. Outside the meaning, it is a great beat and can make anybody jump and dance. Very strong round.
#FromAWindow: I Didn’t Just Come Here To Dance by Carly Rae Jepsen
Let me tell you how sheltered how I was. I didn’t know who Carly was until last year when Call Me Maybe was done on Drag Race. So I am not as exposed to her music as most are. This is a very fun song. The harmony is great and it’s a good club beat! It wasn’t like the most pride themed, but it’s such a fun tune. It was a good selection this round, and I hope you can keep it up!
#Booyahhayoob: Coconuts by Kim Petras
I forgot about this song until now LMAO. It’s such a fun ass tune! It’s so stupid, but so right at the same time! I mean this song further proved my pansexual awakening, and I love me a coconut or two. Something four….but tmi! It just adds joy and energy to me, and even in my bummer days I will find the time to tune in! Stellar round again!
#Thnksfrthmmrs: Simple and Clean by Hikaru Otada
I did have to google it, but they are infact non binary. So the more you know! I mean as a gamer Kingdom Hearts provides joy that I didn’t know I could have. It’s a staple in my recent years, and I grew to really find comfort in it. However, I didn’t really get anything more out of the pride element other than the artist’s pronouns. Any other category would have easily place this in the top, but it’s a unfortunate miss. Sorry Jules.
#NewNightmare7: Make Me Feel by Janelle Monae
This is a jam to get into 100%. They seem to always find a way to add something special for each of their singles. What I appreciate with this tune is that it very fun and has that sexual innuendo without it being so blunt. It’s a song that can be played anywhere and immediately I will catch myself adding a hip bump or two. I love that you have provided two fun submissions for me already. Hopefully you keep it up!
#PennyTrationStan: Found My Friends by Hayley Kiyoko
Oh Hayley, the second hottest Velma, the hottest queer icon in my eyes. Like god…..ANYWAYS! She has good harmony to her, and always will. This song in particular is very nice. It’s a fun café jingle at this local shop I go to, and I love the beat to it! There are parts where it seems simple, but all in all I really like this song. Good work.

What I can say about this song is that it’s fresh and has a nice upbeat element to it. Unfortunately, it was a little boring for me. :/ I’m all for the fact that it is an LGBT themed group, and I think more representation needs to be shown. But overall, it was a sad miss this round. I’m sorry.
#MrRobzilla: The Village by Wrabel
So holy shit I didn’t expect genuine tears flowing with this song. This song is beautiful. The meaning is sincere, and a lot of trans/nonbinary youth still struggle to this day with expressing their own identity. To see the harmony flow and to see the message convey the way that it is, it was truly remarkable. Thank you for submitting this song, because it truly has me in the feels.
#oswordo3: WOMAN by Avenue Beat
This song is nice, I really liked the rhythm it brought. Seems like a fun karaoke tune. If it weren’t for certain lyrics however, I would not have gotten anything LGBT themed. Which is a shame because it’s a fun tune for all, and it’s very enjoyable. I just wished for more than what was delivered this round.
#Mrkk: Beautiful by Christina Aguilera
This song is an inspiration for all walks on life. Queer, Body Positive, Disabilities. The whole nine yards. At one point it got me through some dark stuff. So I can appreciate that in more ways than one. If I had one critique from it I would say compared to other submissions it’s just kinda there for me. But it’s no takeaway from what this song can bring. A decent round for you!
There was a lot of nice songs, but three of you really shined above the rest!
