My job? The main management has taken over scheduling and my schedule is so bullshit. I am part-time but I am not going to work 4 hour shifts. That is such a waste of my time.
Here is my schedule next week:
Sunday- 5AM-9:00 AM
MONDAY- 5AM- 9:45 AM
WEDNESDAY-1:30PM-6:30PM
THURSDAY-2:30PM-7:45PM
Friday-11:15am-3:15am
I mean, it depends on how far away from work you live, and how much you get payed I guess. In this economic climate, I also wouldn't suggest quitting unless you have another job lined up.
As someone who has worked retail for like 4 years, companies usually cut hours around this time because the stores aren’t as busy, but if you want more hours, talk to management and ask to work more. A lot of the time when someone takes over scheduling they a) don’t know what they’re doing or b) let the computer automatically do it. I wouldn’t quit your job, but I would have that conversation of getting more hours and if they say No, start looking somewhere else and quit once you have a job lined up.
Like Becca said, your hours usually get cut since people are more likely to stay home and there’s not as much traffic in the store to need the employees. Before Thanksgiving, I was working 5 days a week and like 25-30 hours and then after except for the week of Christmas, they have me working 3 days with like 10-15 hours a week.
