make statements on Instagram story or on their actual profile? Idk why but using stories feels like a cop out to me. I'd assume less people would see it and it won't stay on their profile. Just feels half assed

I almost feel the opposite. My instagram feed is on a specific algorithm, so I might not see the post unless I scroll. I check stories a bit more frequently.
Nah, I can see them not wanting their page to be politically affiliated whatsoever. Most celebs/influencers know that engaging in politics can be their downfall
