Timster has never been good at spelling

In the 5th grade spelling bee my class did a tournament to earn a spot (only 2 per class made it into the actual spelling bee) and I got 4th place. One of the top 2 was going out of town so she couldn't do it. 3rd place was in the spelling bee last year so she let me go ahead and try it out.

I got out in Round 3 for the word "Surrounding".

it went like this

Host: "Spell surrounding"
*gulps*
Timster: "um, can you use it in a sentence?"
Host: "The cowboys surrounded the horses"
Timster: "Can I get the definition?"
Host: *says definition*
Timster: "Surrounding.. S... A..."
*Host scratches my name off the list*
Timster: "S.A.R.R.O.U.N.D.I.N.G. SURROUNDING"
Host: "no"

i'm pretty sure I blogged this a long time ago but none of my fans are online so you people can read this if you please.
