Yeah, so this is basically in the same spot as Scarlet, but for VERY different reasons. I get the appeal for Elden Ring and God Of War, but those games are just Not For Me(TM). MY pick for Game Of The Year was Stray.
I'm a cat person. I have a ton of cats at home. A game like this was always gonna appeal to me. I upgraded to PS+ Extra or whatever it's called just to play this (although I got a lot more use out of it later lol) and I gotta say, so worth it. Stray is a simplistic platformer/puzzle type game, and though it's a lot shorter than the type of games I'm usually into, that wasn't a problem here.
This game is adorable as hell, first off. Being a cat and doing cat shenanigans is so much fun. But there's also a lot of heart to this game. There's a great storyline about reuniting with the rest of your cat friends/family, and the journey to get out of the underground is wonderful. You'd think the amount of emotional story beats they could hit with... not only a silent protagonist, but that silent protagonist being a whole CAT would be limited, but god fucking dammit this game breaks you in the most unexpected ways.
Stray is very good. I would recommend it, it's a short game but well worth investing in.
