J - YES YES YES. See, THIS is what I love Ariana for. This is easily one of my favorite songs from her. My long history of failed relationships isn’t really a secret on this site, including a marriage that didn’t end up lasting (even though we’re still friends!) And honestly… For a long time I was stuck in the past but this song, despite how personal the lyrics are to Ariana, actually has helped me a lot to slowly learn to move on and leave the past in the past. It also just sounds incredible, and the last pre-chorus always ends up breaking me. I love this damn song.
N - Is it wrong I love 7 Rings more than Thank U Next? I get what you’re going with as your theme for this season.. And these choices are like.. Becoming kind of predictable. That’s beside the point: I do like this song, and I agree with Julian it’s a very “I’m moving on from you to better myself” song, which I think is what we all need right now in times like these.
J - OH MY GOOOOD WHAT ARE THESE SUBMISSIONS??? I LOVE HAMILTON. I went through a HUGE Hamilton phase a few years back and still blast a few songs from it even nowadays, this one included. Everyone sells their parts so convincingly, and it all just comes together to create such a dynamic opening number. This is a bop and a half and I feel no shame in the fact that I try to sing along with every part of this, lol.
N - Now this is a showdown! Who DOESN’T Jam to Hamilton!? I love how both songs in this showdown tell such great stories.
J - This was TOUGH. I love both of these songs, they would have likely been very high on my list had they been in the original round instead of here.
