people throw around the term 'abusive relationship' too much. It makes people think the worst. It should only be used if its physical abused as thats the connotation behind it. In case of verbal abuse ( which i am not disregarding just hoping people will stop being misleading about it) they should say 'I've been verbally abused' not just 'abused'. While it isn't incorrect to say it, it is just bound to lead to a misinterpretation

thats fucking ignorant because an abusive relationship can be more than just physical. like if they yell at you for things that aren't your fault. Or if they tell you you are worthless/lower your self worth in any way on purpose.

dak236 First of all im not discounting as to how bad it is, im just saying physical is a whole other story. You can't compare the two and using the term 'abusive' is misleading, its too vague.

no...abuse is abuse. verbal abuse if anything can sometimes be WORSE than physical abuse if it's bad enough. If its to the point where you're harming yourself. bruises can heal but what people say to you doesn't heal so easily. It's not misleading at all. Abuse is abuse.

Dak236 if you think verbal is WORSE than physical you are sadly mistaken. They are not comparable and that has been my point all along. the term 'abuse' on its own is misleading as it doesn't show WHICH one it is. If you say i had an 'abusive' relationship I won't know whether its physical or verbal and they are two COMPLETELY different things. Therefore, there needs to be a clearer way of differetiating between the two.

And if you're saying 'Abuse is Abuse' then why do we differentiate anything? Let's just call everything we eat food, cause you know..food is food. Or lets call all metals, metals cause you know...metals are metals.
