Re: Sexual Predators on TG

May 21, 2020 by Tetsuya
I just want to provide my own analysis of this site through the years and how sexual predators probably emerged, got enabled and continued before being called out. etaco75 encouraged me to post about it.

The most interesting point is how the site dynamics work. If we divulge in those dynamic further, we can also get a bunch of near-satisfying factors on why there is said cases, and why it was not brought up further in this site, yet it became glaringly numerous.

With that being said, we must ask ourselves; what enabled this kind of behavior in the first place? I for one believed that the social fabric of this site allows this kind of behavior to manifest and grow over time. It's how the social relationships that made this site alive, running to this day, created the foundation for sexual predators to emerge. The very fact that our relationships is the determiner of all major issues in this site makes it glaringly obvious that our behavior is dependant on our social dynamics with people, and that includes how we grow up as and what we think as normal, what we think is acceptable in this site. In the case of sexual predators in this site, there is a possibility that this behavior is caused by mere evolution of mindsets in this site, thinking this shit is okay and acceptable. Sure, some people are just plain disgusting in nature but the very fact that there is sexual predators in this site points us to a conclusive statement that what we did here, what we say here to each and every one of the people here, allowed this disgusting behavior to manifest and continue to this day without us knowing until it was brought up, and that's the same for every other issues in this site that makes this community problematic in nature.

And yes, we can recognize Tengaged is a very problematic side, --without of course taking away that some of us can or are not problematic at all, simply some can be at the wrong side at the wrong period of time in this site.

Our social relationships with people, and how we manage the people around us can lead to undesired consequences. And to be honest, none of these experiences or conversations will ever be held for discussion if no one spoke up about the issue, so this issue would've continued if all of us continued to misstep it.

One thing I noticed is the bandwagon effect of most of these people have, and granted most of us are all teenagers mixed with people who grew up in this site, now adults. It's odd how we will almost never start to do certain things or certain things w/o people that are considered in a higher social ladder, doing things before us, bringing me to an analogy how Tengaged is just merely a virtual high school.

Going back to my point how social relationships affected the growth of sexual predators in this site. Take this, most of us here have been a) ostracized, b) publicly shamed, c) defamed in this site, and that's because of the social relationships which I would just call social groups or cliques that hinders the amount of expression towards this. Sometimes, we would never believe someone who is in a lower group than us if the person they are accussing of, is of a higher leverage in this site and are known by a lot of people.

Basically, who we have circles with, who we interact with, can affect the mere social fabric of this site to a new whole level because granted we may never know we interact with, so it's a must to take caution and always have look out of for yourself, and yourself only. Sexual predators can continue to be prevalent if us people continue to take things with a grain of salt and a bucket of skepticism as if we're white men in a horror movie. Lastly, people should and definitely speak up in these kind of issues, but a lot of will be hindered if we allow these people to have a gag tape over their mouth thinking that maybe it's not okay, maybe it's just in their head what they are thinking and if they go against this person, it may backfire-- that's gaslighting.

I applaud people for speaking up despite the possible skepticism, and the divide between colors and groups, and I'm glad Tengaged is looking at this issue more seriously, but I wish how they treat this major issue seriously is how we treat even other minor issues properly without the needs of thinking it's cool to make fun of certain stuff regarding said issues.
