Since instead of people asking proper questions through mails or e-mails, they go ahead and assume things on the blogs page and in the public, we're going to make a clarification blog about the Defamation of Character rule, which for the record, has always been in place on Tengaged, just hasn't been 100% enforced.
If you call somebody a pedophile or a murderer, you WILL be banned. These are serious crimes and these ruin somebody's reputation if the claim is false. If you have proof of any sort of illegal actions that are being performed by Tengaged users (relating to pedophilia) you can mail us, blogging about it will still get you banned.
If you call somebody a racist, call a straight person gay, call a female a man, or call Bobby by a name like Steve, you will NOT get banned. Since I have seen a lot about this on blogs that I have been trended in, I am making this clarification blog. These are in now way over the top claims that ruin your reputation.
I'm really not sure where all the claims of us banning people for no reason are coming from, because any ban that I have given out was for something that has been on my profile. I have not made any "new" rules since I have been a moderator, and I intend to keep it that way. But, people are always going to complain about a ban that they receive.
Once again, if you have any questions about this. MAIL US or COMMENT here. DO NOT ASSUME.
EDIT: Accusing somebody of something like 9/11 or another tragedy in the world is also ban-worthy.
okay thanks T_modTemp. I was just wondering cause that's how journalists get away with accusing people of crimes ya know. Not like I call people pedophiles anyway
@T_ModTEMPI think the part about banning people for no reason, comes into play when people get unbanned so soon. It seems as if they were banned for no reason.. or that you unbanned them under pressure.
QueenDoe - My goal is not to ban the users of Tengaged. If people message me talking to me about their ban, my goal is to ensure that they are going to follow the rules in the future as well. Sometimes I feel some bans are too harsh for the offense.
MikeRORO - Everybody is entitled to their own opinion, but that's absurd to ban somebody for.
I've been refereeing for years, so I understand how to enforce rules and shit like that. On top of that I've been called every name in the book.
You're certainly not wrong with the rule, but it does have it's gray areas ..
Someone accusing you of being gay and someone finding out in real life.. Real or not could be life changing? Can it not? Who would want a rumor like that going around if it wasn't true?
With a large majority of this site being gay, it would be too hard to have that rule in place. This shouldn't really be offensive to you anyway, but people who were called gay and actually were gay would lie and say they weren't just to get somebody banned. MikeRORO
Take a poll, I'll guarantee most people are straight T_modTEMP .. There was a poll done by someone earlier last year and majority ruled that there were more straights.
Calling someone a racist is definitely defamation.. People can and will very easily lose their job if they are considered racist all it takes is one person to email their employer and make up a story and boom, the damage is done. I don't understand why you guys think you can draw a line between what is "serious enough" and what isn't..
Okay so now you are deciding that even though it ruins reputation, which you JUST said earlier on this blog was what you were trying to prevent, now you are deciding to not implement a new rule.. Even though it literally already follows under your rule of defamation. Okay lol
I never made the rule of defamation of character. Calling somebody a murderer/pedophile has been ban-worthy way before I become a moderator. Tengaged blew the rule of out proportions and assumed anything was a defamation of character. There needs to be boundaries. tyleror
