Over the past 24 hours, a total of 5 users have received bans related to accusing a user on Tengaged of pedophilia. These offenses are not taken lightly, and are serious ones. I am an online moderator, not the police, so we are not going to handle issues that do not break Tengaged rules, especially without proper proof.
Now, if you accuse a user of being a pedophile DIRECTLY or INDIRECTLY you will receive a ban. A starting ban will be 3 days, UNLESS you have ABSOLUTELY NO other bans on your account. (This does not mean bans releated to this, ANY bans at all will get you a 3 day ban) If you have a few bans related to this issue, such as Defamation of Character, accusing a user of pedophilia or in some cases, harassment, you may receive extended bans such as a 7 day or 14 day ban.
Also, accusing users of ANY other illegal activity (within reason) will also merit a ban. If you feel like a user is actually doing something illegal, send us a message, don't address it publicly.
I am not trying to look for reasons to ban people, but if people don't play by the rules, then I have no choice but to give them a ban. If you have any questions about this, please feel free to post in the comments, as I typed the blog up quickly and others may have similar questions to you. I will respond in the comments, and sometimes edit the blog.
I understand what you mean by clarifying and restricting the rules, but how can you honestly be dumbfounded with banning people who try to make this a serious thing?! There has been grown adults hitting on children and you're not willing to listen or even look at the possibilities that have happened on the site? there has been major catfishing cases on the site and people being shady as hell about their identity. I don't want to name names out of respect, but you're clearly missing the point.
You want to protect this site, but you're willing to ignore the circumstances that which adults of age are acting in obscene ways to children online. Not only do I see that as being ignorant to the potential of in real life problems for some users, but you're just willing to let this happen.
This is not just pedophilia. People on this site have been getting under the skin of some users and it's completely idiotic when you decide to ban someone because they made a public blog about it. If the person has done wrong and continues to do wrong things, they can't go to you to solve the problem, because you don't have the "evidence" as to ban them with proper etiquette. Honestly, there have been so many problems and bad eggs on the site that sometimes it is just to make a blog out of frustration. Blog = public voice of opinion. Since when do you restrict what people say? What I am trying to get at, if someone were to harass me over the internet and I made a public blog "defaming" their reputation, I'd be the one serving the ban while the other person could potentially do this to another person. It's not fair.
Wait since when do indirect comments qualify for a ban? I mean if you're not directing it at anyone or actually calling them a pedophile it shouldn't be a ban....That's just a ridiculous excuse to ban someone lol
_Teemo_ - Not sever enough. We’re referring to calling somebody a pedophile, murderer, or something along those lines.
donaam - You can contact us if you have concerns about a user on Tengaged and we will do our best.
carleebear - Who said we’re not willing to listen? I have mentioned time and time again that if users have concerns, they can message me PRIVATELY, not address it in the public blogs page or in a game.
amartin - Sorry, it was a bit unclear in this blog. I meant something along the lines as “______ is a pedophile” being direct. Indirect would be “______ cams with little boys.” I would never ban with somebody because they simply blogged “pedophile” or something. Hello btw!
There was a blog a few days ago that essentially was the poster reposting a quote someone had said on Skype or some other outside source about another (unnamed) person being a pedophile.
Would this apply?
If the person being called a pedophile was named would it change anything?
Didn't report it, don't remember who was involved.
My concern with that would be if the person in question was aware the blog was about them...
The problem with that is how do you prove they know it's really about them and they're not just trying to get someone they don't like banned...
How do you prove it isn't about them?
