PREVIOUSLY ON SURVIVOR: Spencer knew he was on the outs, but didn’t want to just accept defeat. Instead, he decided to come up with a plan. “Courtney, Hali, and Shii Ann need to be split up,” he said, “or they’re just gonna take out the rest. If I can somehow create a riff between Hali and Shii-Ann, I can take Brenda and Peih-Gee and take the majority back.” Spencer approached Brenda and Peih-Gee, telling them about his plan. “You’re not mad at us?” Peih-Gee asked. Spencer responded saying “Honestly, I can’t be. If I was mad at you, the five of you could just vote me out next.” Brenda and Peih-Gee’s plan had worked perfectly: Now that Danielle was out, Spencer was indebted to them. The plan made was for Brenda and Peih-Gee to each talk to Hali and Shii Ann and try to convince each of them to target the other. Brenda talked to Hali, asking who she would want to sit in the end with: Courtney or Shii Ann. Hali said she’d rather have Courtney in the end because she thinks the jury wouldn’t respect Courtney’s game thoroughly. When Peih-Gee asked Shii Ann the same thing, Shii Ann said that she would take out Hali because Hali was the better player and she thought she could beat Courtney. This was perfect ammunition for Brenda, Peih-Gee, and Spencer, and they took this information with them when they went to the challenge. The challenge involved diving for sticks that they would later assemble into a massive puzzle. It was a two way race between Spencer and Brenda the entire time, but Spencer won it, celebrating with tears. Back at camp, the plan was set in motion and Brenda told Shii Ann what Hali told her. “She said she wants to go forward with Courtney, not you,” Brenda said. Peih-Gee told Hali the same thing, except about Shii Ann. For the rest of the day, Shii Ann and Hali had awkward tension. Courtney approached Hali and asked what had happened, and Hali told her that Shii Ann was talking about getting rid of her. “Fine, then let’s just get rid of Shii Ann,” Courtney said, not knowing that Shii Ann was just as mad at Hali as Hali was at Shii Ann. Spencer, Brenda, and Peih-Gee saw this as an opportunity to take out either Hali or Shii-Ann. “We don’t know if anyone found this last idol,” Spencer said, “So we have to vote for the person we think has the least chance of finding it.” Before tribal, Shii Ann and Hali both searched hard for the idol, knowing that there was some obvious tension, but at the end of the day….nobody found it. At tribal council, Spencer addressed that there was some tension at camp between Shii Ann and Hali. “So apparently, Hali is going after me,” Shii Ann said, to which Hali responded, “You were literally saying the same thing about me.” Courtney smiled, saying, “at least they both wanted to take me to the end,” laughing. Shii Ann and Hali then began an argument, causing Brenda and Peih-Gee to look at each other in shock that their plan was working. After the voting, nobody stood up to play the idol. The first two votes went to Shii Ann (from Hali and Courtney), and the next vote was for Hali (from Shii Ann). The last votes went to the trio of Spencer, Peih-Gee, and Brenda, who all voted for Shii Ann, seeing her as the less likely of the two to find an idol. Brenda and Peih-Gee couldn’t believe they pulled it off. “I tried to be loyal to the end,” Shii Ann said, “but Hali and I’s egos got in the way, and this is what happened.” Shii Ann and Hali, who had voted together in every single tribal....voted for each other out of sheer paranoia caused by Brenda, Peih-Gee, and ultimately Spencer.
