PREVIOUSLY ON SURVIVOR: After a hiatus, we’re back! With no idols in play, everyone was on their own. Peih-Gee, Brenda, Spencer, and Danielle had all voted together, hoping to bounce back and maintain the majority, while Shii Ann, Hali, and Courtney were on their side. Eliza was all on her own. “I thought they were voting Hali, so I told Courtney to play her idol on Hali,” Eliza said, “but the four of them voted for Michaela, and I look like the bad guy.” Eliza told the story to Hali, Shii Ann, and Courtney, but none of them were buying it. “It’s just hard to believe you when you literally never voted with us until today,” Hali said. Eliza wanted to win this challenge to prove to herself that she could bounce back. At the challenge, it was revealed that whoever lost the challenge would be immediately sent packing. The challenge was a race through the jungle collecting puzzle pieces, finishing with a big puzzle. Everyone was off to a spry start, with Spencer taking the early lead, Brenda and Peih-Gee close behind. Danielle was struggling getting lost in the jungle early on, but trusted in her alliance to help her out. Once they got to the puzzle platform, Spencer, Brenda, and Peih-Gee began to help each other, and Peih-Gee finished first, winning immunity. Spencer and Brenda finished. Hali, Shii Ann, and Courtney made it to the puzzle mat and worked hard to get their puzzles done. It came down to Danielle and Eliza, and Spencer, knowing that Danielle was much more of an asset than Eliza, tried helping Danielle by signaling to her. Eliza was struggling, and nobody wanted to help her. Danielle finished and escaped elimination, sending Eliza out of the game for good. Eliza was crushed, knowing that her blunder in the last tribal really sank her game, no matter the outcome of the challenge. Back at camp, Spencer wanted to ensure he’d be safe, and decided to search for an idol. Sure enough, he found yet another idol. “I don’t think I need this tonight,” Spencer said, “but this sure is nice to have.” Brenda and Peih-Gee were upset that Spencer helped Danielle in the challenge. “Danielle is a beast,” Brenda said, “and for Spencer to just help her, with an elimination on the line…it just seemed a bit dirty to me.” Brenda realized that she pulled some harsh moves with Dawn at the final tribal of Caramoan, but felt like she had grown as a person and wanted to play the game fairly and honestly. “It honestly makes me want to vote either of their butts out,” Peih-Gee said. “Knowing him, he found another idol…” Brenda said. “If we can get the three girls (Courtney, Shii-Ann, and Hali) to vote for Spencer and flush an idol out, and we vote for Danielle, then we could split up that power duo,” Peih-Gee said. Danielle and Spencer talked, and Spencer said it was straightforward that Hali was the boot. “I have an idol,” Spencer said, “so Hali is literally defenseless, and the most savvy of that three.” Danielle and Spencer celebrated. “Are you gonna play it?” Danielle asked, to which Spencer replied “no.” Peih-Gee pitched the plan to Hali, who was all ears. “This game is ever changing,” Hali said, “So why not take anything we can get?” Before tribal, Danielle got a gut feeling that something was wrong. “I’m worried one of them will flip,” she told Spencer, talking about Peih-Gee and Brenda. Spencer shrugged it off, saying she’s just paranoid. Danielle told him that they seemed mad about Spencer helping her during the challenge, and Spencer said that she had a good point, and if anything, it would secure that Hali went home more than anything. At tribal council, Courtney said that she was hoping for a miracle to save her three. “It’s three against four….there’s not much we can do,” she said. Hali said that things could always change, but she was pretty certain she’d be going. Danielle stared at Spencer, who stared back with certainty. After the votes were cast, Spencer hesitated, but ultimately played his idol. “Just as extra ammunition,” Spencer said. Spencer got the first three votes, as expected, from Hali, Shii Ann, and Courtney. Hali got the first two votes, making Danielle and Spencer happy. However, the last two votes (from Peih-Gee and Brenda) went to Danielle. Spencer and Danielle were shocked, causing Danielle to put her head in her hands. “I shouldn’t have told you to play that thing,” Danielle laughed. It was a revote between Hali and Danielle, with only Peih-Gee, Spencer, Courtney, Shii Ann, and Brenda voting. Despite voting to save Danielle, it didn’t matter for Spencer, who saw all four other women vote out Danielle. Danielle knew there was a flip happening, but didn’t think they’d split votes. “I should’ve just kept my mouth shut, and Spencer would’ve gone home,” Danielle said, “but by looking out for him, it cost me my game.” Spencer was relieved to survive the night, especially knowing another idol would be rehidden. Hali, Courtney, and Shii Ann cheered, while Peih-Gee and Brenda felt good knowing they finally had Spencer in the palm of THEIR hands.
