PREVIOUSLY ON SURVIVOR: With the numbers down to four, Tina knew it was a 2 vs. 2 battle between herself and Earl against Jenna and Vecepia. “It’s been me and Earl from the beginning,” Tina said. Jenna and Vecepia talked. “I’d really hate for this to go to a tiebreaker,” Vecepia said, “so if we can somehow convince them to turn on each other, we may just have a shot.” At the immunity challenge, the contestants had to find their way through a maze blindfolded. All of them had trouble out the gate, with Earl, Vecepia, and Tina pretty much being nowhere close to the end. By pure chance and luck, Jenna won immunity, finding the exit surprisingly. Everyone laughed, knowing this was a blow out and a tough challenge at that. Back at camp, Tina and Earl talked, and agreed to go after Vecepia, the only one not in their alliance without immunity. Vecepia told Jenna that the easiest way for them to win would be without Earl. “I need to pitch an all girls final three with Tina,” Vecepia said, “but just to be safe, maybe we try to flip Earl on Tina.” Vecepia talked to Tina about doing an all girls final three. “I think, with Earl there,” Vecepia said, “all those alpha males are going to root for him.” Tina acknowledged that this was true, but also knew that it would put her against both Jenna and Vecepia, and she would have to beat them both. Jenna talked to Earl, telling him that Tina found so many idols and would clearly be a jury favorite. “I know this is true,” Earl said, “but I don’t know how many times I can betray my own alliance.” Jenna said that Earl would steamroll the votes if he was up against herself or Vecepia. Earl said he had lots of consideration. “It’s between heart and gameplay,” Earl said, “and ultimately, I have to go with the game.” At tribal council, Vecepia said that she could very well be going home, but wanted to make some last attempt, and said that she’d be easier to beat in the end. Tina said that her relationship with Earl was smooth for the most part, but in the end, things were getting more competitive, and she had to start thinking long term. After the votes were tallied, both Earl and Tina seemed confident in their votes. The first vote went for Tina, and the second vote went for Earl. The third vote was for Earl, much to Earl’s surprise. And sure enough, Earl got the fourth vote, and was the next member of the jury. Vecepia and Jenna couldn’t believe that their plan to pit them against each other worked. Earl was shocked. Tina, realizing that Earl had voted for her, also realized that Vecepia and Jenna had pitted them against each other, and laughed in amazement. Earl and Tina hugged it out, “hey, one of us was gonna have to go,” Earl said. Earl told Tina to “win it,” and gave a nod to Vecepia and Jenna, who got the best of him. “I was blindsided, and they were able to get Tina and I to vote for one another,” Earl said, “I should’ve gone with my gut.” Vecepia was happy, not only escaping tribal, but not getting a single vote.
