PREVIOUSLY ON SURVIVOR: In the first Redemption Island battle after the merge, Corinne and Francesca had to balance poles on either hand up against a ceiling. When their poles dropped, they were out. Immediately, Francesca was struggling keeping them up, wanting to prove herself. Corinne was still and steady, though she knew she couldn’t win this challenge in Gabon and wanted Redemption as well. Fran dropped, giving Corinne the win, and increasing her longevity in the game. Francesca was the first member of the jury. At camp, Russell was pissed at Fabio and Alison for flipping, but especially mad at Colby for voting for him. Abi began to see Russell unleash some steam on the camp, and enjoyed it all. “This is best case scenario. The guy who wants to take me to the end is more of a nuisance to everyone that myself,” Abi said. Sugar, on the other hand, was not having the best time. “I am just sick of the way Russell is treating people around here,” Sugar said. Sugar approached Alison and Fabio, saying that she wanted to work with them going forward and vote off Russell. Colby was bonding with Terry, and seemingly patching up the previous beef with Chris. “Chris isn’t a bad guy, and now that Corinne has been gone, I think he’s a good person to reteam with,” Colby said. At the immunity challenge, the tribe had to stay in the water with their bodies under a grate. As the tide rose, they would have less room to breathe, and eventually have to hold their breath. If they came out from under the grate, they were out. Knowing he won the last challenge, Chris didn’t want to win and opted out first, followed by Abi, Angelina, Russell, Alison, and Sugar. It was quickly down to Terry, Fabio, and Colby, and Colby, also wanting to minimize his threat, opted out. Terry and Fabio had a face off, and Fabio ended up outlasting him for the win. Back at camp, Sugar and Abi discussed voting for Colby with Russell, but Abi said that Terry seemed more dangerous to her. Abi discussed the plan with Russell to go for Terry, and Russell said that they had the easiest chance of pulling Alison and Fabio back if they voted for Terry. Russell talked to Alison, and wanted to regroup, but Alison wasn’t sure if she was ready to go back with Russell. Alison told Fabio that Russell, Abi, and Sugar wanted to go for Terry. Sugar, however, came to Fabio and Alison mid conversation and said, “I don’t want to go with Russell anymore, I want to get him out.” Fabio was worried that either Sugar or Russell would play an idol. “I don’t want Terry out,” Fabio said, “but I’d go after Angelina as a safety vote in case Russell does have an idol. She’s far more concerning down the road than Abi or Sugar” Chris, Colby, Terry, and Angelina felt good about going after Russell, knowing he didn’t play an idol in the last round, and approached Alison and Fabio about it. Alison and Fabio debated whether or not to go with the plan to get out Russell or throw some votes on Angelina in case he played an idol. “We have three roads we can go,” Allison said, “with Russell against Terry, with Terry against Russell, or we can just vote Angelina, who is my rival.” At tribal council, Colby spoke about how confident he was in Russell not having an idol, since he didn’t play one last tribal. Russell said that he was the best player to ever play, so Colby should watch his back. “You know Russell, I can’t wait to see you go home tonight,” Colby said to Russell. Fabio said that it was clearcut that Russell was a big target, but the fear of the idol still loomed out there, and maybe a backup plan was needed. Sugar said that it was tough because she didn’t want to be aligned with bad people, and she just hoped that this vote would make things less chaotic for the tribe. After the vote, nobody played the idol, and Colby had a smile on his face knowing that Russell would finally get the boot. The first two votes came from Russell and Abi, against Terry. The next two votes came from Fabio and Alison, against Angelina, in case Russell played an idol. The remaining votes all came for Russell, with Sugar flipping on him, and Colby, Terry, Chris, and Angelina banning together to get him out. Russell was pissed, but Angelina was even more surprised that she got votes. She knew she had to figure out who voted for her.
