PREVIOUSLY ON SURVIVOR: Courtney was grateful that she used her idol at the right time, but wanted to go searching for another idol in case she got a target again. Alec and Michael also went out searching for an idol, which prompted Yau to start looking. Jenna and Natalie decided, since they were the only ones not looking, that they’d start looking. It was an idol hunt madhouse. Alec was able to find yet another idol hidden in a tree overhanging the camp. “Of all places, it was right above our camp,” he said, laughing as he clutched onto his third idol of the season. Alec decided to show Michael and said “Jenna and Natalie should be loyal, but let’s keep this between us just in case.” At the immunity challenge, the six castaways had to run an obstacle course collecting puzzle pieces and use those puzzle pieces for assembling stairs to climb to the top of the platform and raise a flag. Immediately, Michael and Alec took off, and Jenna and Natalie shortly behind. Michael was first to get to assembling his stairs, with Alec shortly behind trying to put his pieces on the stairs rather quickly. In a photo finish, Alec was able to skate by Michael and win immunity. Back at camp, Alec told Michael that he really wanted to be able to hold onto his idol until next week. Michael agreed, and recommended splitting the votes between Yau and Courtney in case there was more than one idol hidden. Alec didn’t think of that possibility, and thought that was a good move. Let’s vote for Courtney and the girls can vote Yau. Jenna and Natalie were approached by Alec and Michael, recommending splitting the votes between Courtney and Yau, and they felt like it was a good move. Courtney knew they were probably splitting the vote, but didn’t want to go to a tiebreaker against Yau and Michael, so she decided to make the move that would guarantee her safety. At tribal council, Yau said that he was certain they’d split between him and Courtney and he just had to pray that they’d eliminate Courtney in the tiebreaker vote. Alec said that he didn’t like how Yau would just give up, and Yau said he was not giving up, but just didn’t know what to do at this point, and that he had done all he could to make relationships and hoped those relationships would carry him through. After the votes were tallied, Alec decided not to play his idol on Michael, hoping the plan to split votes would work. The first vote, Yau. Second vote, Michael. Third vote, Courtney. Fourth vote, Courtney. Fifth vote, Yau. Two votes Yau, two votes Courtney, one vote Michael. One vote left. Courtney decided to flip and vote for Yau, guaranteeing her safety and sending him out in a 3-2-1 vote. Yau was upset, but knew he did all he could. Courtney was on an island of her own but hoped for a miracle, or even a crack in the core four.
